spacey People always thought that the group was the singers.

This is my big beef with the Idol, X-Factor, The Voice etc. Even the groups are vocal groups. These days its all the vocalist. I come from a time when Keith Emerson, Richie Blackmore, John Lord, Robert Fripp, Jimmy Page and many others were as big or bigger than the vocalists.
 
Nothing against vocalists but the vocals are part of the whole.

At that time, though, there still was an appreciation for musicianship, and it was very with it, to show other music folks that some rock players, were actually better than they were in their own classical field.
 
Today, there is so much out there on the internet and everywhere else, that it is impossible to discern right from wrong, and good from better or worse. Sadly, the ability for people to learn an instrument and help people learn to make music, is a lost art, and the instructors of music I have met in the past year, are all teaching "The Saints Are Marching In", and the majority of kids are not interested and neither am I!
 
We have to do something about that, if we're going to keep this going, otherwise the geeks will win the war ... who the **** needs to know music to play and do it! And we're not accepting, or understanding this, because most of us are also a bunch of geeks and then some!
