The tool you downloaded looks clean enough.

Having an E-Mu card I just use the Aux send from Patchmix to record any media audio.

Who could ask for more?

Format Factory

It's 100% free, just make sure you uncheck the Ask.com toolbar option when you install it. Also, it defaults to automatically check for updates. I always turn that stuff off so things aren't poking at my bandwidth in the background.

It's lightning fast. I convert FLV's to MP3 all the time with it. I don't know what codec it uses for MP3's but they sound great. It also converts video from cell phones to any format, MPG, WMV, etc.

Hard to believe it's free ... it's the best converter I've ever used.

I still think using SPDIF was the best answer.

I do it exactly the way Karyn is suggesting. I run three computers at once here and it is easy to set one up for playing back Youtube stuff. I also have a digital connection from all of them to each other and can easily record the audio into my main DAW. It works very well every time and saves a lot of fiddling around in the long run. I find the quality to be very reasonable at times too.

I use YouTube Downloader as mentioned above, but this is just another zombie thread resurected by a spammer.
