As for our Bus Compressor Vs our new Precision Compressor / Limiter then yeah I can see why you'd compare them. 1 being clean and "gluey" while the newer one being "thick" and "warm" sounding. It definitely imparts a beautiful colored tone to your mixes and sounds great when paired with a tube EQ like the one found in T-Racks.

No disagreement there, Obi.  It does sound good.  Kudos to the developers.  As for the tone, couldn't you follow any compressor with a saturation plugin to get whatever tone you're after?  I think the whole compressor-as-colorizer thing is overrated.  Example:  the Slate VBC set has excellent modeled compressors, but they went overboard with the "tone" thing, leaving in all kinds of noise, distortion, and other things you may not want.  Hey, if I wanted a distorto-box sound, I'd use a distorto-box after a clean compressor!  Oops, sorry ... ranting again.

Cheers,
Eddie

Hi Obi,

I noticed you mentioned this while you were arguing with one of your customers:

Wow. It says "no spam" in this forums EULA agreement but you seem fairly comfortable taking a dump all over the commitment you made when you signed up.

It's none of my business, of course, but it does seem to indicate to me that IK Multimedia doesn't have any ethics.

Precision Compressor / Limiter now available on T-RackS CS

New version includes a classic British dynamics processor and AAX compatibility!

Have you ever considered asking your boss for some sales training? Good sales reps know how to keep it classy no matter how stinky the company they work for seems to be.

Yes/no. These are sonic colors. Sometimes you want the color and other times you don't. Its entirely preference, BUT for over 40 years this particular one has been popular for a reason. Different strokes for different folks. You can't simply recreate these legendary compressors or EQs with simple saturation or EQs. We model the entire circuit, each resistor and so on. We are well known around the music industry for being the best at it too. Just ask any of our partners. Fender could have gone with anyone. Orange too. We do it so well there are many that DON'T want us saying what we modeled.

You can mimic an OCD with a boss DS-1. Why? They are both distortions....

JCM 800 will never sound like a Mesa Boogie. Why not? They both are hi gain amps...

Tone and sonic colors are the HARDEST thing to explain. You can't describe the color blue to a blind man who has never seen. Try it out, see how it works in your workflow with your mixes against your plug ins. We're confident this is a great sounding compressor and are already seeing tons using them in the Custom Shop.

IK has a partnership with Cakewalk and they have been very welcoming to us. Part of the reason I stick around. If there were any issues they have connections to higher ups at IK or even a PM message to myself. So far the only thing is a very small VOCAL minority complaining about my presence here. It always surprises me to see these that hate IK anyway still show up in every IK thread like fans tend to do as well. So again, if there was an issue (Or if there is) please feel free to contact the mods or as always use the Contact Us/Support forms at the IK site as well.

I love my T-Racks and Amplitube....I love ALL my IK Products...

I just believe that a company SHOULD NOT FOCUS ON DOLLAR SIGNS...
but instead, MAKE DOLLARS from doing what they SHOULD have done a LONG time ago...

And even though IK is STILL not Windows 8 Compliant...which is WAY overdue...I still use them...

None of my stand alones work in Win 8...except Miroslav? How weird is that...
ALL the others...nothing...I think it's a duel between the IK Products and the Quad Capture driver...
they work fine in hosts...but not stand alone...

All my other stand alones work....Kontakt, Guitar Rig, etc....they ALL work...only the IK stuff won't.

Yet, they have time to release THOUSANDS of iCraps...and updates and NEW this and NEW that for stuff
that was just updated only a few months ago...while the SampleTank line (YES - 4 Products - SampleTank, SampleMoog,
SampleTron, and Miroslav) just sit there for 4 years...and all their other stuff still isn't Win 8 compliant....
even 64 bit T-Racks and Amplitube aren't Win 8 compliant yet...

Seriously, why not just make a 64 bit version of SampleTank?  That could have been done YEARS AND YEARS
AGO....oh..I know they were WAY TO BUSY doing iCrap stuff...to even think about it.....

I'm sure IK is thinking, well we don't have a lot of customers for those products...

WELL DUH...if you're not updating them on regular basis WHO WANTS THEM?  That's just COMMON SENSE!!!

I can only hope that people EVENTUALLY wake up...

Listen to Obi's quote "We've been working on for 4 months"....WHAT?  It's been 4 years for SampleTank...
That's a SLAP IN THE FACE!!!

These companies do whatever they want, regardless of what existing customers say or do...WHY?
because they are GREEDY...it's not about YOU, they've already got your dollars ...it's about THEIR dollar signs..it's not about MUSIC,
it's about MONEY....and yes, that is what businesses are about, BUT, a GOOD business will do so with
INTEGRITY...and do the RIGHT thing, regardless of the dollar signs...and will gain a REPUTATION
while doing it for their CUSTOMERS and GAIN dollar signs...but, they'll also gain a REPUTATION for NOT doing it for their
customers...if you catch my drift...

Sad part is, most don't care...they will just BUY....they don't care..they're junkies...buy, buy, buy...companies screw you...
that's ok...buy buy buy...etc...they can't stop...it's called OCD...gotta have it...can't do without it...

I'm done with these companies...as Godsmack says..."I STAND ALONE" and that's ok...right is right and wrong is wrong...

and EVERYTHING that IK is doing right NOW is WRONG....sorry guys...no one said the truth was pretty...they've been promising
SampleTank 3 for 3 years...and NOW they say..oh..it's close...NOT YET...but close...here's the carrot, come and get it...
and while you're reaching for that carrot that we keep pulling away, here's an apple....

NOPE...not doing it....

That's my 2 cents worth...and THAT is the rest of the story...Paul Harvey...

So because IK doesn't move at the rate that you deem they should they are screwing their customers? I mean at least their **** works just like they say it does. They have several lines of products and I am pretty sure its easier and faster to model these compressors than it is to build entire new modern sample libraries from scratch which is what is likely going to happen with Sampletank 3. Long story short get over it. Sampletank 3 will be here when its here and they have already said it will be here before the end of 2013. I am guessing before Thanksgiving to get some Christmas sales. I want Sampletank 3 too but it makes no sense to **** about it in a thread about a new T-Racks module.

I personally couldn't care less about IK's abandonware (hee hee), but this new Neve emulation is pretty dang good.  It sounds nearly identical to the UAD version.  And its GUI is easier to deal with.

HOWEVER, there's the question of whether you need this plugin, given all the other high-quality options out there.  IK is billing this as a great bus compressor, and it may be, but don't they already have a plugin called ... "BUS COMPRESSOR"?  I think that one (an SSL emulation) is just as good as this Neve.  Do you need both?  I don't think I do.  Not to mention all the excellent offerings from Slate, UAD, Waves, and other vendors.  Help, plugin overload!

I won't even get into the whole "IK Way" of selling products.  Suffice it to say that it had better be something I MUST HAVE for me to bother jumping through all their hoops.  Not to mention that you can't even find the price of these things (in actual money) from their website.  Who else does that?  Answer: nobody.

One more thing, and I'll stop (I promise):  those of you who like having the option of selling your plugins on the used market should know that these T-RackS singles bought through the Custom Shop are NOT FOR RESALE.  You can't transfer them to anybody else, ever.  Better make sure you use your oh-so-generous 3-day demo wisely, cuz if you buy it, you're stuck with it.

Good products obscured by loopy business practices.  That's the thing with IK.

Cheers,
Eddie

The irony of complaining about abandonware and not being able to transfer software on the Cakewalk forum. Cakewalk has the same policy but nobody complains about it. How many people bought Sonar 8 that still have issues that they had to upgrade to X1 with in order to get a fix? Then had to upgrade to X2 to get those things fixed. I wish I could unload my copy of X1 to a new owner but nope Cakewalk says no go. How about them not updating Dimension Pro in even more time than Sampletank's last update? Cakewalk has not said a word about updating Dimension Pro but IK has said for 2 or 3 years that ST 3 is coming in the future and people want to rant rave and cry about it not being here yesterday. So much irony here.

You can't be tu sure about IK and their gestapo practices. Say what you want about Cakewalk, even on their frorum, but IK will delete your posts if you voice something negative about them or their product. Had I known that in advance, I would have steered clear of their products. A shame too. They make good products.

Its in our ULA agreement when you sign on. The forums aren't meant for support so if you have any issues with IK (Negative comments, we've had racist comments, downright nasty ones) please take it up with our contact us form or our support. Its all laid out when you sign up.

Thanks for being completely rude. I would never say racial comments. The comment was from your guys, "They have been saying a lot of things". I said, "Like ST3's been coming for almost 2 years".  Then I went on to say that I love the effects I have from IK.

So know what your typing about before you accuse me of things I don't do. Like contact IK support or the lack therof.

Hi Obi,
I don't like being called a "minority". That crap wouldn't fly over at the IK forum. ;-)

I'm actually one of your customers.

Call me vocal all you want.

 Just saying.

I want to be clear, I did not say you were making those comments, but explaining that there are tons of reasons we delete or ban users/comments. Not to mention, I'm not the only one on those forums. We have a LOT of IK employees on those forums. So I'm sorry if you feel I deleted or banned your comment wrongly. It was more said broadly covering many different peoples posts here. I apologize if it seemed that I was wrongly accusing you of those things.

Obi,

I know IK is working on sampletank 3 and it will be out when it's out.

Does IK have plans to update/upgrade any of the other products that are in the Total Studio 3 -Miroslav Philharmonik, Sonik Synth 2 and SampleMoog?????  AAX, 64bit etc. (really only care about 64bit as I don't use ProTools but still).

Honestly I really do not need another modeled compressor / limiter and the boutique amps n effects don't hold much interest for me in Amplitube but I can see others like them and use them.

Oh and keep posting at Cakewalk - only way I can find out about some of the IK products is seeing the announcments you post or reply to others that have posted.  (BTW the IK website has been down for 2 hours - really annoying hahahaha).

I have no issues with Sampletank 2.5 or Miroslave LE in standalone (or in Sonar using bit bridge) but in the more up to date Amplitube there dose indeed seem to be a problem detecting the Quad capture ASIO drivers in stand alone. It finds them and then seems to forget them straight away. It seems to remember the Direct X drivers (at least there are no error messages) but I don't use amplitube in stand alone so I cant say how this well works in practice.

I also have a problem using the Quad Capture ASIO drivers with all the latest NI product stand alone versions. I have to use WASAPI.
