One thing that doesn't solve your problem, but just something to consider is to shoot EastWest an e-mail and let them know you'd like to buy their Choir, but won't do so because of the dongle. They have an amazing sounding Choir but of course you have to use the buggy Play software which needs an iLok dongle.
It can never hurt for people to let them know they are missing out on sales because of their dongle. They believe they make more money using a dongle because of piracy. Showing them the other side of the coin, that it really DOES cost sales, never hurts. They probably won't change, but each time someone lets them know, it might help push them in that direction.
I already sold out long ago and bought their iLok'd products, something I regret.
