Yes BFD Eco is at version 1.5 but so was the original BFD when it came to an end which is what I was unsure about.
I would have thought they would have said Eco if they were referring to it and the word from fxpansion was that there was no upgrade path for BFD Eco owners to BFD3, they would have to go via BFD2. I'd be inclined to contact JRRshop first just to be sure.
As for whether it's worth it or not I would say absolutely 100% yes. Even to those who can afford to get BFD3 without having to go via BFD2 I would still suggest going via BFD2 as you get 10 whole kits that IMHO cover a wider variety than the BFD3 kits and are well worth the money. That said the kits in BFD3 are a lot more realistic, I just happen to really like some of the BFD2 kits.
Were it not for the fact that those BFD2 kits might not be round for much longer I might have suggested getting more accustomed to BFD Eco before deciding whether you want to upgrade but the clock seems to be ticking for those who don't want to pay the full cost of BFD3.
I'm not sure what you are currently using other than soon to be BFD Eco or more importantly how much you like tweaking and mixing drums as opposed to using generic genre based based drums that sound great out of the box.
I found BFD2 extremely daunting at first but got myself some tutorial DVD's and youtube video's and am really glad I did.
