All it really says to me is the age group of those who saw it / bothered to vote.

It seems like the records mentioned were made at a time when genre labels were descriptive yet not meant to specifically separate "everyone" into small groupings where as now genre definitions are employed to classify smaller and smaller subsets of "everyone".
