What is the best and easiest way to set up and maintain a website these days?

I need to set one up for my elderly father. He is very non-technical. I have actually built and maintained servers of various types and created web sites, both static and dynamic (using CMS tools). The methods I have used, I think, will be too difficult for him and too time consuming for me to keep up to date with security patches.

Is there something easy out there that you know of and have experience with?

Thanks

I use Web Easy to build my site.  It's supposed to be "easy" to use... Once the site is set up initially, on the servers hosting it, you're supposed to be able to update it with a few clicks.... however.... I'm not very technical either so I end up with a mess when I try the "one click" update.

Perhaps someone else knows a simple solution.... maybe even let him set up a facebook page since those are pretty easy to maintain and people can interact with him easily on it.

There are a few companies that offer free sites and it's supposedly really simple to update them.... IDK... all sites will take some level of technical prowess to keep them current.

I'm needing to update my site now (for the past year actually) but tackling it is another story... I procrastinate well.

Good luck.

Obviously it's aimed at musicians but I used Bandzoogle for my site. Never had any experience with websites before, but I had it up and running in an hour or so. Very easy to update too.

Probably WordPress is one of the more trouble free ways to try.

Hi,

I still have and use Front Page 2003 (something like that) because it is simple enough for a dummy like me to enjoy and not have to go into contortions just to add a stupid bookmark, for example.

I do, however, have another program I bought that allows me to upload things better than the Microsoft program does, which is a headache, and has a nasty habit of changing things into the folders in your computer instead!

I am wanting to clean up things some and update them and bring them up to date a bit, but at this point, I simply do not have the time to get it done.
