PRICE TBC
RELEASE DATE: NOVEMBER 2013
Recorded at Air Studios via an unsurpassable signal chain. 96 rarefied microphones, into Neve Montserrat pre-amps, the world’s biggest Neve 88R desk (which was exhaustively re-gained at every dynamic layer for optimum signal quality), via a dual chain to HDX and Prism converters running at 192k. Over 30TB of raw data from these sessions alone.
The London Ensembles sessions feature the cream of Hans Zimmer’s hand picked percussion corps playing a distillation of a decade’s worth of musical experimentation and innovation. This is not an imitation of techniques explored in his numerous multi-billion dollar blockbuster back catalogue. It is a truthful recreation.
Each instrument has been mixed by a selection of long-serving Zimmer collabrators a selection of Grammy winning engineers for their own “take” on the Hans Zimmer experience, including Junkie XL*, Geoff Foster, Alan Meyerson, Steve Lipson* and Hans himself.
The library includes (at time of going to press)*:
TAIKO ENSEMBLE
BOOBAMS
LOW TAIKOS
BASS DRUM GALLERY
SURDO ENSEMBLE
TOMBEK ENSEMBLE
LOW BOOM
LOW BOOM GALLERY
TAMTAM
HIGH TAIKO
LARGE TAIKO
GONG DRUM GALLERY
DOHL ENSEMBLE
BOMBO ENSEMBLE PART 1
BUCKETS AND SNARES
BUCKETS AND CRUSHERS
BUCKET TOP AND DARBUKA
PIATTI
TIMPANI TRIO PART 1
PAPER DJUN
ANVILS
BOMBO ENSEMBLE PART 2
All drums have been recorded deeply with up to 9 Round Robins and 6 Dynamic layers per instrument. Most instruments have a variety of articulations, sticks and beaters as to recreate and expand on favourites from HZ’s private collection. The timpani ensemble should be of particular interest, it’s Hans’ take on how a kettle drum should sound. The resonance and cross chatter between three timps ringing in sympathy in one of the greatest recording spaces in the world will be the talking point of this library.
The library will be released with the above mentioned mixes alongside a cherry picked selection of mics from Geoff Foster for your own infinite tweaking and customisation.

This will probably be one of the greatest percussion libraries, but it will probably also be one of the most popular and soon to be overused ones...

That said, I'll probably get it myself at some point. :D

I'm interested in & anxious to hear HZ02 with Jason Bonham Live on the Newman Stage with Z's modular synth drums.

yeah sorry, no.  not a chance.  that's insane, at least for me it is.

Too rich for me, I'm afraid. I'll continue using Epic Battle, which costs 12 euros.

For many doing this type of production, making money & funding one's budget its not insane at all.
If this fits the bill I'm sure many will consider it a no-brainer.

Of course it depends on sound, function & usability. There are other good percussion libs as well. Hope there's a demo for it.

I wasn't actually questioning the price at all - I'll pay for quality.

Abion I (Spelling) is only 43gb uncompressed.  200 GB for a percussion sample library just seems - rather excessive.

Now Native Instruments has a pack coming out as well Action Strikes.  it certainly will not be of the highest quality that Spitfire produces but ....it will probably get the job done for me if I actually need something like that.  it's only 3gb (though it is $299).

my hard drives are screaming at me every time I even consider buying another sample library.

The Zimmer collection is probably going to cost a bomb. This is rather interesting though:

Granted this is $300 but I like the way it is very controllable in terms of playing. I bet the Zimmer collection won't have anything like this. You will have to program it all manually.

Watch the 10 minute video especially.

Actually if you go for the intro offer they're about the same price as NI.

If the quality of this is anything like Spitfire's other libs ( which i'm sure it is) I'll learn how to program them if need be.
They're fantastic.
