This new critter is making the press release rounds and I am so excited that I check the stock at the warehouse daily hoping that they will be available for order really soon..
It's built around a recently introduced 29 dia. x 3" cross section tire. The company is known for making several bikes that use gigantic tires for specialty bikes but this new 3 incher seems like a perfect all a rounder for riders that like to ride cross country on untamed paths.
It is what I have long dreamed of. I've ridden 2.5" tires for years and always wanted just a little bit more.
The frame sets are usually designed for tires no bigger than 2.5 so it is really exciting to think that the new tire size and a frame that runs them will be available.
I assembled a 35mm wide rim wheel last month so I could run one of these new 3" tires on the front of my current bike ( I have one of the few bikes with a front fork they will fit on and I am loving it. ) and this new frame design is a modified version of the frame I ride now so the transition to riding 3" front and back should be easy.
There seems to be some growth in outback riding or bike packing in the cycling community. That has always been my primary off road cycling interest... Long Slow Distance in places I've never been too... so it seems really cool that suitable equipment is being introduced that enables us to ride more comfortably while we are heading out.
Good times.
:-)
best regards,
mike
