There many times that I really think I should've stuck with the concept of boycotting dongle's. This is another one for sure. I just picked up a copy of Quantum Leap Spaces. It seems that like every East West product it is determined to be both excellent in sound quality, and problematic in operation. I didn't have any trouble with the demo, so I went ahead and ordered it from B&H. It shows up today and… I can't activate it says my code is invalid.

So now I get to play the fun game of finger-pointing and trying to get either East West or Pace to make it right.

If you are currently boycotting dongle products, I recommend keeping on doing so. They really are a pain in the butt, and the company the use them are often extremely paranoid which is why they use them.

Thank God that Cakewalk doesn't play that game. One of the things that really keeps me on Sonar is excellent, no hassle licensing system. They seem to understand that though some people may choose to pirate their software, it is far more important to keep the people who do pay for it happy.

I would contact EastWest.  I've had good experienced with their support.  There is also a guy on Gearslutz the works for them.
Check out this thread:

I have a ticket in, we'll see how it goes (they are all at home right now). It is just a pain. The dongles seem to have the most problems, again probably because of the paranoia built in to the system of "contact the vendor, check your account, contact Pace, check your account, contact your iLok, do verification, etc, etc, etc." I much prefer Cake's "Here's a number that just works, have fun with your software."

if your using Internet Explorer try using Chrome.

I had a similar experience last night with Avid and my Pro Tools keys.  wouldn't recognize with Internet Explorer and I spent hours in frustration.  did everything with Chrome and it took about 10 minutes to get my iLok license accepted and transferred to the iLok 2 and up and running.

totally frustrating these keys are.  I have an iLok 2 and a eLicenser Steinberg stick.  hate the damn things.

The only things I really have to have that use USB dongles are EWQL SO and Cubase. (Steinberg is working on a dongless system),  Other that those I won't by dongled software.

My experience with Cubase years ago is what made me vow to avoid dongles like the plague.  I ended up having to use a pirated version of my own software to get it to work.  It strikes me as bizarre that pirates don't have as much hassle as paying customers.

I had the same issue with East West. It's their issue. The code is indeed invalid, and they know this is a problem they need to fix. The solution is to download the very latest version from them online and use a newly generated key given to you by support. They can also directly upload the code/license to your iLok account. NOTE: The site states iLok version 1 is supported. However, mine only worked until I upgraded Sonar and scanned for the plug-in. Somewhere in the process, the license began to fail. Purchasing iLok2 and moving the licenses over fixed the issue.

East West has a lot of sorting out to do. If you read their bio, you can see the company was started by someone (from my perception) who probably still doesn't fully understand how a technological company best operates. Quantum Spaces is definitely a great asset to your arsenal, and impulse capturing is something I think they do well, but their logistics stink. Their tech support wasn't even aware that the product was sold by Sweetwater, for example, and stated, "You're better off buying direct from us."

Ya I've had no end of issues with Play. They are amazing audio engineers, bad software developers. It is annoying as ****. I am getting real close to just saying "screw them" and never buying another product from them.

No idea how long this will take to get sorted out, their tech support is not responding. I'll give them until next week before I get nasty.
