To my ears, the acid-test for a reverb is auditioning with acoustic drumkit.
If there are any nasty/bad sounding artifacts, it's super easy to hear.
Few software reverbs sound anywhere close to on-par with Phoenix Verb in this regard.
It sounds exactly like you'd expect... given Michael Carnes hardware reverb resume.

While it's not an inexpensive plugin, it's certainly worth the asking price.
The way I justified it: I'd rather have a single more expensive (sounding) reverb than several less expensive plugins that sound pretty good.
No more expensive when viewed in that light...
