Got a reply from AAS, got it sorted out. Upgraded the Session for 49/=.

Glad it worked out for you.

It got it as well.

Read somewhere that the actual core engine producing the raw sounds is the same as ver 1, just the addition of better effects and some different presets, new GUI and workflow improvements.

Sounds are good and was worth the $29 upgrade from here. The layout is a lot better for tweaking. There had to be some deeper than cosmetic optimizations though, because the new version seems about 30% less of a CPU hog than ver 1.

Ver 1 and 2 exist happily together and some very hi quality sounds are had from running both at the same time. Almost like getting a different new synth for the upgrade.

I love this synth. AAS just sent me an email with upgrades to all of my version 1 sound sets converted for use in version 2. These guys know how to do business. Great service, great synths.
Best $29 update ever.

Yep, got that same email and downloaded my sound sets a while ago... the only thing I'm lacking now is time to play with it. :(

I'm sure I'll squeeze in a little fun with it this weekend.

For those upgrading, here's a tip.

I just downloaded the upgrade and it installed without a hitch.  I also downloaded the upgrade to two additional sound banks I also had previously acquired.

The install instructions appear to be out of date and refer to UA V1.  There is no longer an import function in V2.  Instead you (according to a KVR thread) need to run the sound bank install exe.  Whether or not this installs the (unwanted/unneeded) player is unknown ... haven't retried that yet.

The new 2.0 bank installers automatically update V2 and the AAS Player (if installed).
For Ultra-Analog V1 you have to manually install the *.axf file which gets unpacked.
From what I recall with V1 you always had to manually installed the *.axf file anyway so no change there.

Yes it looks like it installs the player along with the v2 bank. At least I couldn't find a way to only install the bank without the player. I guess not a big deal to disable it if you are concerned about it.

...I'm hearing both pros & cons about this upgrade...

Well it turns out that you may be right spot on about this Carl.

I'm able to open, run & activate it just fine in stand alone mode, but in Sonar & Cubase, it won't work at all.

In Sonar X2a which is very stable, it won't even load.

When dragged & dropped from the Browser, Sonar freezes up at '50% loading tracks', and the UA VA-2 GUI doesn't even open.

In Cubase it loads up ok, but then any clicking in the GUI and the whole DAW program just flickers, and the UA VA-2 GUI hides.

When bringing it back into view, no bank or program changes happen at all. Clicking anywhere changes nothing.

I've not had this happen in Sonar or Cubase before, so I'm labeling this one as an AAS problem - especially being a new release.

Any one have this?

Works great in X3 here - I'll try X2 later

I saw someone else posting in the X-Series forum about having similar issues, but it's working fine for me.  Are you running x64 or 32bit? And is it Windows 7 or 8.  I'm on Windows 7 x64 using 64bit SONAR X3.
