Just got it and I figured out where the presets are. They are the two or mor buttons on the gui itself. Granted there aren't many for each module, but after trying the 3 on the guitar module it appears the presets represent The Stones Led Zep and Hendrix. Or something along those lines, as it were. I'm glad I got it - $265 waves sale email came tonight and having missed the $199 offer last month I just bit the bullet and added to cart.

Looks like Audiodeluxe is having a sale right now on all the signature collections for 206.64. Definitely cheaper than the 800.00 they started out at.

not having presets, is a way for somebody like Kramer to maintain their professional standings by saying 'you can't just punch a button!'

he's saying 'here's my tools, but the rest is up to you'

because honestly, how would you even begin with a preset?

nothing is ever the same, everything is unique, presets don't work.

presets don't work.

Except when they do.

I mean, they may not work every time, but for me, there have been times where they have.

maybe, if you're using the same setup every time, and never vary anything.

but most recording isn't done this way.

i think presets can cause laziness.

and you don't want to be lazy, when you're inventing cool sounds.

I don't think you're lookin at presets in quite the right light there BB, ol pal.  I see them as both guideposts in general as to where a good place to start might be in any given situation and then tweak from there as needed AND a learning tool to see how Pro users actually setup a plug for a given situation.  I don't see them at all as "the lazy man's way out" although they can sometimes be that too.  Plus why even buy any of the "signature series" at all if you don't want at least some of the guess work alreadly done for you?  I mean you could just grab a comp, an EQ, a gate, a verb, etc.....and do it your own self.  Or for that matter why even use a comp?  Just ride the fader perfectly accurately on every track while you're recording on the front side.  And limiters just make things too loud anyways.  And why in tarnation would ya need to EQ something unless it was recorded poorly??  Who needs any help at all??

Just joshin, a course, but you get me point.

of course, folks that already know what they're doing, can use a preset as a starting point, and then tweak away.

i'm speaking more to the folks who are just getting in the game, and think that a preset, will automatically get them what they want...

they end up learning nothing.

personally, i almost never find a preset that is close enough to bother tweaking..

i like to start with a 'reset' preset.... and tweak from scratch.....

and hit 'bypass' often.

Without even just a smattering of presets, the Eddie Kramer Collection would be a #FAIL, because it would then just be an effects chain with no selection and tweeking input from the "Producer" which is what the Sig Collections are all about. And Eddie himself says in the promo video that yes, he wants you to just "press a button and BLAMMO - you get the Eddie Kramer Signature Sound." He provides two, three, and 6 buttons on varying modules. That's all. No big deal. This is the whole point of this series - you get the signature settings as presets designed by the producers themselves. No one here ever went beyond that - because of course tweeks have to be done...sometimes.

well, this is wrong way of thinking about it..

he has modeled very specific pieces of gear, to a do a limited range of 'stuff'.

for a very specific task.

that's the part your paying for.

the 'eddie kramer' sound, is in his head, not a preset.

you have to be able to find what your looking for in a variable way, hence, no presets.

While I agree with you 100% there BB, ol pal.  Eddie DOES say such a thing in the WAVES promo video.  False advertising??:-)
