Off the wall, but haven't been able to do anything thru a mic for 2 days now. Storm season getting into full swing and there's no way I can baffle the studio to get rid of the roar. Maybe next spring when things settle down. No problem with midi input or direct guitar, but try to record a voice and you got to scream to not get drowned out.
 
Setting up a studio out here seemed to be a good idea at the time...

Maybe check out Thomas Dolby's studio...it's in an old boat, in the sand, right on the beach outside his house.  He turns out consistently good audio recordings...even though, as he happily admits, you can sometimes hear the ocean in them:-)

Thanks for the reference/idea about Dolby. The guy is or was cool if he is still around. Will follow this up on your advice and see if I can get a fix.
 
Tried the Adobe Audition route to do their analysis of noise, then program the noise profile for extraction. Works well almost if the noise floor is a constant. Things here so volatile that the 2 second analysis of background noise is different 2 sec later and real sound you want is stripped out.
 
Way sublime and spiritual environment out here, blocked in with fragile glass windows against the higher forces of nature.  Just makes recording through a mic difficult unless you want the sounds of the surf in every recording.

I can appreciate your situation.  My studio has three air conditioning units just out side of the west wall.  Try as I might when working with budgetary restraints, I couldn't eliminate a certain low rumble in the iso booth.  However, I discovered that for some undiscovered reason that I have a certain spot in the booth where the rumble cancels out.  So I always put my vocal mic in that spot and I have a workable solution.
 
In your situation, I think this would be a great time to write dark and moody material like "Riders On the Storm."

Yeah, no lack of inspiration. Had a pure acoustic group awhile back come here to get in touch with nature, finish writing their pieces and then head inland to Portland to record it where they could hear themselves. Pure direct input and midi work fine and can get a couple tracks with unidirectional mics before the background surf becomes audible.
 
Further off the deep end, I have been able to record one short video that is a critical document (if you believe that it was not faked). Wave and weather activity aren't the only "noise" problems that can interfere with an acoustic track out here. Have to find where I uploaded it on YouTube about a year ago. Will post the link and explain, a believe it or not sorta thing.

There, I done it. Major derailment of any thread, but will get back to explain. Likely get myself branded as a terminal lunatic, but this is one of the most critical audio recordings ever captured in our human history. I was hi as a kite for a couple weeks after finally getting concrete documentation and knew I could retire from trying to record anything again. This was in the top 10 recordings of all time.
 
I was hanging out of a second floor bathroom window nervously fumbling with a new GoPro camera. Kicked out the screen, minor sacrifice at the moment to get a better shot. Tried to get the thing working and not kill myself in the process. Lots of artifacts but, the core recording is there and unmistakable. After 6 years, we finally got her.

Explanation of Gladys,
 
Strong, remarkable  woman who was involved in witchcraft and the occult. Knew her in life before she died at 102 years.
 
Died, but didn't pass on in the normal sense. Way too much to write about what has been going on, but she's haunted the place north of us for years. Place is so terrifying that it is now abandoned. Nobody can rent the place ot live there more than a couple days without being driven off.
 
There is a weird spillover of her energies here, one geometric box removed. Majority of the hauntings are in the north property. Her and her ghost cat have caused so many disruptions in the community everyone is taking it as ordinary and natural. Animals as well as humans are involved
 
Spillover here is the music studio, got floor rugs that crawl up the wall when she is most active. The bathroom closest to her place has nightly openings and banging of the closets. Have no idea what she is looking for. Just wake up with the noise and request her to shut up because I got to get to work early.
 
Was a transition from the normal night time spookings to daylight auditory manifestations awhile back  that were following any mechanical activities, construction in the area, anything mechanical with lag time. This lasted for a couple months.
 
About the Gladys YouTube...
 
Me and the wife were doing a gardening rock transplant down to ground level with a bunch of small rocks from a local quary. We put them in babana boxes that were too heavy to carry down to where we wanted to put them. We did a tag team, wife using a metal trowel to scoop the rocks into smaller containers that I could lift and carry.
 
Next day was Saturday early morning, and Gladys was replicating the transfer effort in broad daylight. Same resonance of the trowel, only the vitality was a bit lower. About fell out the window to my death, but got objective evidence. Not the next Brittany Spears hit, but way way more critical in forcing us to ask questions about our place in the scheme of things and keeping the mind open.
