A friend of ours rescued 3 kittens which their mom had abandoned in her backyard a few weeks ago - and we've just adopted one of them tonight. Poor little fellow is incredibly shy, but I'm sure that he'll soon pick up on the fact that my wife and I are totally crazy about cats.

Not sure how I'll name this one. I always end up changing their names, anyway. At first we thought Edward - I had a cat named like that which looked a lot like this one and who was also a little rescued buddy. But the first Ed was just too unique and it'd feel weird.

For now, he goes under "Maurice Richard". :)

We keep him in a closed room and will wait a bit before putting him contact w/ our other cats.

Hadn't thought of it that way, but it's almost like I'm naming my cats after illustrious CH members, isn't it?

Ed, Maurice...

I wonder how they'd react to a cat name Beagle...

We've had a rescue cat for nearly 4 years now.

Takes a while to gain their trust but he can be very affectionate when he wants to.

Likes to chat a lot.

All of ours are rescue cats. My wife used to work in a shelter on her time off and we've always been really supportive of them.

Edward's story was pretty amazing. My ex was going out to the hair salon and asked if I needed her to pick up anything on her way back. I answered, jokingly, one black kitten and one grey kitten.

When she arrived at the hair salon, there was a box in a corner with 2 kittens in it - one black and one grey. The guy who worked there had found them in the parking, abandoned. He had picked them up earlier that week in the hope that someone would adopt them, and since no one had, he was going to bring them to the SPCA the next day. Obviously, she brought them back and we took care of them. We adopted the black one and our best friend adopted the grey one from us a few weeks later.

And after I'd suggested half a million silly names such as Black Sabbath, Guinness and the above-mentionned Maurice Richard, it struck me: Syd.

Obviously a reference to one of my early heroes Syd Barrett and one of my wife's early heroes, Sid Vicious.

Nevertheless, as with all of them, I'm sure he'll end up w/ twenty names, like all our cats.
