Trying to complete a 'transaction' (not to go into boring details) with my bank on Friday, get a message that they want me to phone them.
 
Get through to a Drone, who announces;
 
''We can't complete the 'transaction' until we speak to someone who is financially linked to you''
 
I asked them to repeat this...then asked them what they meant exactly.
 
''I can't say any more, due to the Data Protection Act'' said Drone.
 
I asked Drone if she was talking about my wife.
 
''I can't say, due to the Data Protection Act, but if that is who you believe I'm talking about, you need to ask her..umm..the person..to phone us''
 
 
I despair.

When my wife came home she phoned them and we stood in the hall making 'WTF?' faces at each other while she went through the charade, then she passed the phone to me. When finished, Drone asked ''is there anything else I can help you with?''

I had a similar issue with the bank once who phoned me to try and sell me on some kind of new type account/credit card they were pushing, but then said that before they could tell me I had to be able to prove who I was............ I said....."but you phoned me....."
 
" Yes, but I can't talk to you about this unless you can prove it's really you..."
 
"Well, don't then. You phoned me remember. I didn't ask you to and I'm not asking you to tell me anything"
 
"There's no need to be like that sir, we wouldn't want to discuss your financial matters with the wrong person........"
 
END CALL !!
 
 
Later the same day, a different dept of the same bank phoned and said that I had been "pre-approved" for a preferential rate £15k loan (that I neither asked for or needed) and all I had to do was say yes right now and the money would be in my account within 24hrs.

That's one of my pet peeves. More than once I've said 'no, how about if you prove who YOU are?''

Yeah, sure.... blame it on the banks.
 

With my new-ish business, I'm thankfully making deposits every other day or so. I was there Thursday making a cash deposit and had the slip made out, and handed it to the teller. She counted the cash, typed some stuff into her PC and then asks for my I.D. I looked at her for a long 3 seconds, and the teller next to her says, "That's Randy, we don't need his ID for a deposit." I smiled at her and said "Nor anyone else who wants to put cash into my account".

Ahh, the perks of having a local CPA for a wife... she would call someone at the bank and the bank woud be calling me and aologizing... quickly. Bankers are mostly well.. if you need money, you cannot get a loan. If you have money they try to push loans on you. Isn't it nice... don't you love drones.
