I'll be in Seattle for 3 weeks on a business trip.  In November...

we'll be working long days 11 to 13 hours a day during the week, but I'll be there over the weekend of 11/16 & 11/17 and am HOPING we don't have to work and can do some sightseeing.  although, I'm still not sure yet if they are going to make us work that weekend or not...and I'm the lead of the project...but I have to do whatever will impact the customer least, so it's still in the air if I have to work over the weekend or not...

anyway - if I DO get to do some sightseeing - I've never been to Seattle before...what sights should a nube see?

The Maillard Reaction
The Fish Market?

The REI store?

The Needle?

Rain?

The Paramount Theater?

A ferry or whale watch trip to the San Juan Islands for the weekend?

Just throwing out some ideas.

Cool, Reece. I love it up there. If you're lucky, the mountain will be out once or twice while you're there.
The Seattle underground is interesting if you are into local history.
Of course, the fish market.
If you're up for a long day trip, the Olympic Peninsula is a gorgeous drive.
Try to get a window seat on the starboard side of the plane for the flight back. Mt. Ranier and Mt St Helens should be on that side of the plane.

I think we've got rain here, although it is scarce...

yes, the space needle is an obvious one.  Fish Market?  not sure about that - is that like the Wharf in San Fran?
REI?  no thank you.  I'm not an outdoors kind of person.  I'm overweight, can't hike and sneeze at anything that grows...
Bit - that look pretty cool!  I will see if I can get to see that!
Bob and others who mentioned the ferry - we'll see how much time I have.  if I have to work 6 days I might be too tired to do that on the only day off, but it does sound cool!

I have some favorites in that area, but they're outdoors. A drive to Rainier Nat'l Park will take you to a rain forest. I love hiking around in the foothills. There's an older, darker rain forest on the Olympic Peninsula that's a fantastic place to visit. While you're out that way, you can stop in Forks, sit in a diner, and write a Twilight Fan Fic.

Oh, the fish thing is Pike Street Market. If that's not your thing, you might want to catch a ferry across the Sound. Seattle's kind of an "Outdoors" kind of place. There's a lot of healthy people. Just ignore them, and you'll be fine.

Hope that helps.

Better warn him about the ridiculous toll roads that don't collect at any booths, they just mail you a bill...

I had it happen to me and they sent the bill to the address on my car registration which was a mailbox I had no access to (which is why I have a mailing address).  They also sent two late notices until, finally, the person who owned the mailbox (my ex-business partner where I used to live) finally mentioned that I had received mail.  By then, I owed about $60 for a stupid toll road that I didn't even know I had driven over!
