As far as the Martian Invasion thing is concerned, it helps to provide a speculative outlet for the masses.  It also helps to make them feel safe today.  "We survived an alien invasion during a time when our most advanced technology was a spoon!"  The way most people think that we still live on Earth really cracks me up.

I think anyone who has big black bulgy eyes, is skinny, without a nose or ears, and is only about 4 feet tall is an alien but I could be wrong.

A local AM station replayed that broadcast yesterday. It sounded dated of course but it is easy to see why it caused such a stir.. it really sounded like a real news report with officials and everything. What a great hoax. I hope no one get hurt in the panic.

The best hoaxes are the ones that are lies that become accepted as reality. Who shot JFK and why are those damned documents still sealed. I want to read them urgently!!!! At the moment the best we have is the line from "Wag the Dog"- 'he was killed by a drunk driver'.
