Any thoughts yet if there will be upgrade discounts for existing ST2 owners? Any suggested price points yet??

That makes it sound like we're going to have to pay something to get 64bit Sample Tank.

Unlike UAD 6.4 and (WUP'd 8.0 owners of) Waves 9.0.

There will be an upgrade price for current owners of SampleTank 2 to SampleTank 3. We'll have final price points soon.

If there is a huge library then I suspect the price will not be bargain basement. It may still be good value for money for some. However I have the Kontakt, Independence Pro and Dimension Pro factory content and a lot of extre Kontakt and some extra dim pro libraries and Sampletank 2 and Miroslave CE.I am pretty much at the point where I have most things covered that are likley to be included in a factory library. In that respect I would not have minded a option to buy a low cost player with ala carte sounds in Custom shop.

If the upgrade price is not VERY reasonable, I shall also be leaving this alone - I have Kontakt but more importantly for me Mach 5, which I love and have invested quite heavily in - a large Sample Tank Library, as Glyn says, is highly unlikely to be of any interest, no matter how good.
It sounds to me as if IK have not quite thought this through but we shall see!

We shall see, release is close by and people have been excited to see what the new SampleTank 3 will bring. Its hard to judge it without all the details, but we'll have more to share soon.

If is not $79 or less or I may well not jump on it.

$49 is the perfect price point for me since I have quite extensive Kontakt libraries now and I rarely have to think about looking for yet another symphony, choir, drum or guitar library.

IOW if it's moire that $49 it gonna have to really blow my socks off and if it's $79 it might as well be all that and a bag of chips.

I'm pretty much in the "have everything I need and would only like a 64-bit sampletank plugin" camp. I'm even one of the few and strange ones that like the current interface. So an alternative to upgrade to a bare bones 64-bit version for cheap would be my preference, I'm not even sure I'd like it to be more featured. The edge Sampletank has on Kontakt (for me) is the simplicity while still having a lot of flexibility.

At the same time I'm not a fan of the custom shop idea. The custom shop has kept me from using the latest incarnations of amplitube. Including upgrading and using the free versions (even the bonus featured received with hardware). It's just a personal preference, nothing I want to argue about. IK are in their right to push the idea and it seems successful.

Will be interesting to see the new Sampletank anyhow, but I don't care that much when it gets here.
