I'm planning on getting Rick & the Acoustic, but I'm undecided on Strawberry as an optional third choice. My main instrument is guitar and was wondering if it's worth getting Strawberry (my keyboard "skills" are anything but.....). Any guitarists getting Strawberry?

I'm a guitarist, and I'm getting Strawberry. I'm moving more and more to MIDI-based recording as the sample libraries available improve in quality and functionality. Although I've been playing for 42 years, I'm almost never happy with my own playing in a studio context...small timing discrepancies, tone issues, fret buzzes, clicks, various other noises, etc. I'd rather program the part in via MIDI and if necessary sweat over it for 2 days editing it to be perfect. At least I then have a result I'm happy with. And the sheer plasticity of MIDI always seems to present me with new options I never would have had via audio.

For what it's worth. I'm not much of a guitar player but, I sometimes use a Godin Session Custom with a Fishman Triple Play to record midi parts that I use to trigger OTS Acoustic and Strawberry.

Sometimes a lot faster to fix/edit one midi note than to do another take or punch-in.  Your mileage may vary!

How's that Fishman Tripple play in playability, responsiveness, and tracking?

Mesh, You're Really gonna like Strawberry!!!

Mesh & Greg,
I was very surprised at how well the FTP tracks. It's like you don't have to use a special technique to make it track, it just works. Seems to be very responsive using the Godin guitar and original strings it shipped with. Have not tried it with anything else yet. Will be curious to see how different string types affect the tracking...

After setting it up, I don't really use the software that came with it much. Just route it as a wireless midi controller into Sonar, or any stand alone midi based instrument/fx, and wham bam! It does only send midi note on/off, velocity, and pitch bend but it does it very well. It will send program change messages to the FTP software but I have not played with it much.

Best bet would be to give a unit a try to see what you think! Hope that helps.

Kind regards,
Rick
