Hey Greg when do we get Jaco or Cherry Bass as a freebie?

First thing I did was retrofit the Rick into an old project, made a bunch of tweaks to adapt the original MIDI, set the Rick for the necessary drop-D tuning. But I used no EQ or compression, just what came out of Kontakt unaltered. Very pleased with the result. It transformed the song from a so-so uptempo tune to an aggressive in-yer-face rocker. I think the Rush preset will be my favorite starting point.

One other thing I did: I chose 4 round-robins and saved that as a separate .nki. IMO that should really be the default, not 32. That dropped the memory footprint from 730Mb to 324Mb. Of course if you have lots of both RAM and patience, you won't care about that.

@ bitflipper  - By choosing the 4 round-robins vs. 32, did the end result sound more like what you were wanting it to sound like? Just curious per the conversation earlier in the thread. I had never thought about that before but had noticed some things sounded different than the original takes when I use a larger round-robin counts and not just on the Rick Bass. I'm a slow learner...

I had always wondered about the Jaco and Cherry bass so I purchased those during the sale. Man, I'm glad I did not know they would sound/perform that well on my system or I would have purchased them, at full price, long ago. The demos sounded really good but until I get the library on my stuff and play them with my controllers I just never know for sure.

Also got the Lap Steel and Mesa Winds. I don't know where to focus my attention they are all so inspiring.

I really just chose 4 RR's to shorten the load time and use less RAM, and I haven't listened closely to the difference between the different RR options. I may, however, leave it that way.

All my other libraries have far fewer than 32 (which IMO is overkill; it's a bass guitar after all!), and I've never once thought "gee, this would sound so much more natural with a couple dozen more unpredictable variations!". In one library (not one of Greg's), I actually went in and removed two of the four round-robin groups in order to be able to use it at all.

Hey Jim: Not yet ! But I think to get Strawberry, Cherry (the Rick seems to have a typical "rock" color (excuse for my English) and I hesitate between Passion Flute and Mesawinds...

The Group Buy is now at 443 and rumor has it that Orange Tree Samples is making an announcement today about a great new library that they will soon release. Stay tuned my friends...

@peter434 You should never worry about apologizing for your English! Many of us only speak and write one language fluently (well, some native speakers don't even write that language very well!) and are impressed by people like you who write/speak multiple languages, which you do very well.

Paid for mine yesterday, downloading last night and today.  I purchased three libraries: Strawberry Electric, Electric Bass Rick and Acoustic Steel, and got the two freebies as well.  Thanks so much Greg (and also Edrummist) for a fantastic Group Buy.  This was a sale that I just could not pass.  OTS is amazing and has set the Gold standard for how a software/sample company should treat its customers.  Greg's presence on this forum is outstanding and so very helpful.  Wish other companies were as giving and helpful.  Really, OTS has set the bar really high.
