Bajan Blue
Stain is excellent and has quickly become a favorite, especially for delays.

So how does the Waves Wup work? I only have One knob louder. I went ahead and got the Kramer master tape demo with the J37. I'm liking the tape sims...I wouldn't mind getting one someday.
 The J37 is $127.99 @Audiodeluxe.

Clint,

The WUP is a fee that is paid, and if any upgrades come out during that period they are free.
It's kind of like "insurance" on your plugins.

The fee varies, based on the plugin(s), and gives at least 1 year of coverage, in many cases more.
If you own a lot of Waves plugins, the WUP is capped at $300, but you get a discount of $60, making
it $240, and WUP is extended on ALL plugins from the date of the LAST purchase you made, if you
buy it for all your plugins at the same time.  My advice in this regards...if you plan on doing WUP for all of your plugins,
buy another one right before you do the WUP, and that will extend ALL the plugins for a year from
the time you bought that last plugin.  It gives you more value for your money.

I only have the never used "One knob louder". So if I bought the J37, It would come with a new wup and extend the one for One knob? If in a year I don't want anything else, Do I lose the ability to download the J37? Or am I just stuck with it as is...with no further updates? I can live with that, as it should be tweaked by then anyway. I just wouldn't want to buy something and then lose access to it in the future.

Clint,

When you buy the plugin in comes with 1 year WUP included.  If a new version comes out in that one year it's free.
You only get the WUP extension when you buy it.  Buying a new plugin only includes 1 year WUP FOR THAT PLUGIN,
not any of the others.  If you buy WUP for them right after you buy the J37, then you'll get 2 years of WUP for BOTH
plugins, as the WUP will add 1 year to existing one year of J37 and all others comes along for the ride.

It's a crazy system.  But that's how it works.  That's why every time I do the WUP I make sure I've just bought a new plugin,
and then ALL my plugins get extend for 2 years.  It's a win win that way...

Here's an example...

If I own CLA, Maserati, JJP, Manny, and Eddie Kramer my price for an additional 1 year of WUP would be $240...
The WUP on these will expire in a few days.  So I go and buy the J37.  That includes 1 year os WUP.
So, right after I buy the J37, I then do the WUP for ALL my plugins.  Since my J37 doesn't expire for
1 year, doing the WUP on ALL my plugins right after purchase will get me THAT year PLUS another
year for ALL my plugins, making it 2 years for all my plugins.  It's a way to save money,
Otherwise I'd have to pay the $240 every year.

Don't know if that makes sense to you or not...but, as I said, it's a crazy system, and that's my
methodology for beating their system and getting the most bang for my buck.

Except that doesn't apply with Abbey Road (J37, RS56 and King's Mic) and SSL (E-Channel, G-Master Buss Compressor, G-Equalizer and G-Channel)

Carl,

I have the SSL Collection and haven't encountered this...and never heard this about Abbey Road...

REDD gets it....why wouldn't the others?  I don't see any disclaimer when I go to the WUP page.
Just curious where that info is?

Ok...just found one catch...you have to do the WUP within 1 month of expiration
to get the $240 price...otherwise it's $300...
So buy a plug one month before your other ones expire and get the $240 price...
still the best way to go...

They have different licensing agreements with Abbey Road and Solid State Logic.
REDD includes the AR name description but released as a 'Waves plugin' exclusively.

So...Let's say I buy it. A year from now I decide I don't want to buy the wup. Is this plugin still mine? Or did I rent it?
