Yes, it's yours forever. If it gets updated & you're not covered you'll need to purchase another WUP first.
Then you're covered for another year.

I don't see any disclaimer when I go to the WUP page.
Just curious where that info is?

Well I email support last night because I getting a "license not found" for the J37 after I installed the latest version.

The J37 was listed as part of a full Mercury install (which is the misleading part) just like Kings Mics and RS56).

Support said the J37 (like the Kings Mics and the RS56) are under a separate license agreement with Abbey Road.

BTW, I believe that AudioDeluxe.com offers a discount on WUP (maxed at $240) with no limitations as to when you buy it. I'm not 100% on that but a solid 89.987684536394% certain.

The picture in the gallery section on the Waves J37 page shows it to be a Studder tape machine.  Has anyone compared the J37 to UAD's Studder A800?  The price of the J37 is clearly better for me, but wonder how it compares in sound.  Anyone got both?

i do not feel the plugin really optimised...but sounds great ..a litlle upset as a mercury user that this sin't included , if on mercury we gonna have included only bul**** lifeless plugins ....i will really start getting away from them ! cause really bying hudnreds plugins to use quite 20% is only acceptable because of what was the deal back then : mercury = all inclusiv now and future release !

I spent a bit of time with the demo and I'm really digging it. I ran some acoustic guitar through it and got great results. The bias controls work, as does the tape select. Both these are EQ related. The delay is unique to me. Not only do you play with time but also frequencies. The HP/LP filters produce some cool changes to the tape delay that I've not seen before.

It's not a question of If, it's more of a when for this plug. Get the current special or chance a bargain later in the Fall.

I have positive things to say about the Kramer Tape. It can be subtle or very obvious and can add many interesting aspects.

How can i get this EQ analyser, shown in this video from
about 50 sec to 4 mins, on youtube

search for : Waves J37 Tape Emulation (Abbey Road) : First Contact !!

EDIT: ohh i see, vst plugin analyzer : http://www.savioursofsoul.de/Christian/programs/measurement-programs/

Hi guys!

some questions ...
  • How important is it to be on the WUP i.e. how frequently does WAVES release updates and how serious are they changes / fixes?
  • What's your preferred use of tape emus? Are you using it mainly as FX on selected tracks where suitable - or in some sort of vintage set-up with a tape emu in every channel @ start of the chain and @ same settings? how hard would the later hit your system? anyone using it on mix buses /stems?
