I cannot post a link but I recommend my two favorites... The Dunwich Horror (original 1970 version) and a movie I bought and absolutely wore out. I watched this movie WAY more than any other movie ever.. I don't know, somehow it really hooked me... PHANTASM from 1979. I think they are on Amazon Prime and probably on HULU but I have neither. Perhaps I should try one...

What are your favorite Halloween/horror movies?

I'll NEVER forget the first horror movie I saw. I was a kid, under 10 but I don't remember exactly how old, I was 8 or 9 yrs old I think. We were on vacation at Jekyll Island and went to a drive-in theater and saw The Brides of Dracula. The one where he burns up in a windmill.
That night, back at the hotel, I had to sleep between mom and dad and from that time until I was at least 18 yrs old I slept with the covers wrapped tight around my neck, like a turtle neck sweater, really. Every night. It really scared me. These days I like an occasional horror movie but I prefer the weird, I really don't care for "slasher" movies. Except, there was Blood Feast and 2001 Maniacs.... but I prefer the weird or supernatural. We went on a road trip vacation the year that Rosemary's Baby came out. 1968 I think, I remember because my cousin was with me and on that same vacation we went to San Francisco and it was the year after "The Summer of Love". The parents let us out at the corner of Height and Ashbury so we coud walk around and pretend to be hippies. They picked us up a few hours later. I was 17 yo then. I wish I had known what to look for, what to buy... but all I ended up with were some copies of The Berkely Barb. I remember a store with a huge LSD across the front. It was called two things... Lou's Swinging Den / Love, Sex, Desire... all the letters other than LSD were small the letters LSD were huge... but I didn't know about it..
Anyway we hit Vegas on the way back and since my cuz and I were too young for the casinos we went to a movie and saw Rosemary's Baby. It wasn't scary. I always sort of liked the Pinhead (Hellraiser) movies... weird stuff.
I bet if Bubba did  movie I would LOVE it!!

I just ordered all 4 Phantasm movies and the first two Hellraiser movies... I don't know if the sequels to Phantasm are any good but they have the same writer/director so I took a chance.

Eraserhead... hmmmm.

I thought Phantasm 2 was quite a bit better than the first one. Loved that black 'Cuda! May I also suggest, for the ultimate in comedy horror, "Evil Dead 2" and "Army of Darkness"? Bruce Campbell was hilarious in those movies!

My favourite ghost story, 'Whistle and I'll Come to You' by M. R. James, beautifully directed by Jonathan Miller and with a wonderful performance by Michael Hordern.
