Looking forward to it. I've enjoyed the others but
sure wonder...it's a guitar festival and I can think of
many a pickers that haven't made the show for whatever
reason.

Well, it must be someplace warm, because Chicago would probably be too cold. Anyway, I doubt if I really have an idea of what you really said there in the opening post.

If you don't know what the Crossroads Guitar Festival is...
I'm at a loss for words. Sorry.

Maybe this helps.

They showed the 2010 one on TV here a couple of years ago. Remember being very impressed with Robert Randolph, who I'd (sadly) never heard of until then.

I sure hadn't heard anybody play a steel like that before him.

I've enjoyed all of them and love jamming along.

I'm looking forward to hearing/seeing Landreth perform Congo Square...I had
a great time doing a little bit on a collab with Frank on that.

If you dig the Randolph sound.

Search out "Florida Sacred Steel" for some examples of the down home sound of Pentecostal Slide Guitar.

Yeah man.

I know what the Crossroads Guitar Festival is. They have utube videos up of it. But I think in Chicago or some other places it is in May, June or some date around close to that.

Then that leaves;
The recording of the festival will be available this month on CD/DVD and I stated that there are
guitarist that haven't been part of it that I'd like to hear/see which really means that I hope
Eric Clapton and musicians keep this festival going...not only for the music but the cause.

I prefer slide guitar on electric/dobro/acoustic but his ability is entertaining. I think Landreth and Trucks
will be highlights of this one for me. ( them doing Congo Square together....wow, can't wait.)
I'm also really looking forward to Earl Klugh perform "This Time"...it's a tune I use to play and had forgotten all about it until I saw the release ad.

I like old time, traditional, and country blues a bunch too.

When the Sacred Steel is mashed up with a house choir and a smoking rhythm section it is a whole that. seems greater than I could have imagined until I had stumbled onto a famiarity of it.
