I've got problems getting these two to work together. When both are turned on the Focusrite wants to be the boss and kicks out all the VS settings and access to it. I was told (by cakewalk) I would have to use a word clock to sync the two and then use the windows driver. But that would cause too much latency. I want the VS to be the master and have the focusrite slave to it. I've been able to get them both on and have the VS recognized as the master, but it doesn't see the focusrite at all now. I have the focusrite going into the vs through adat but I can't get the adat in the VS to open up. I figure going this way I'll be able to use the focusrite as just an I/O and use it's features the same way, but at this time they will not communicate together for some reason. I've emailed cakewalk a few weeks ago and I've heard nothing from them on this issue. I do have a wordclock generator and if i can get them both to work through that, that would be great as well, but I don't think ASIO is going to allow that.

Make sure you have a BNC cable connected between the two units and the proper BNC in/out on both units. It should work, it works with a Motu 2408 Mk 3/ V700R.

Both in and outs or just out of the vs into the focusrite?

Hi Dahjah,

You should only need BNC going from the word clock out of the VS and into the word clock in of the Liquid Saffire 56.  You will need to set the sync source for the Liquid Saffire to wordclock in Saffire MixControl.  Also, make sure that you have routed the analog inputs to the ADAT outputs in MixControl and then select Save to Hardware from the file menu.  You will want the VS clock set to internal.

If you wanted to use an external clock generator, connect it's outputs to the wordclock inputs of both devices.  Set both devices' sync source to wordclock.

As Matt said. One cable, Vs700 out to Focusrite in.

So far I'm unable to get the focusrite to Lock to the VS. It's as if the wordclock is not sending the info out of the VS for the focusrite to see.

Scratch that it was a cable issue I got it locked to wordclock now. Hopefully I have the MixControl set properly.

Sounds like you've got it licked dahjah. I take the focusrite will give you 8 more tracks via digital 2?

almost not totally, I'm not getting levels coming into the VS. I'm getting levels in the MixControl, changed the hardware meter source to analog so now I got levels coming to the face of the unit as well, but no levels in Sonar or on the VSR. I must have supm wrong in my preferences or even in the focusrite. Yes I'll have 8 more ins which is what I'm after.
