I still have the Porta One. Eventually sold off the the two Roland devices.

TR-505 -> Alesis HR-16 and HR16-B
Alesis HR-16 and HR16-B -> Alesis D5
Juno 2-> Mirage sampler, Roland D-550, Roland P-330 and Yamaha FB-01

PortaOne was eventually superseded by Tascam 80-8 and 80-2, then added Tascam 112 and Panasonic DAT and Tascam 312 Mixer

Tascam 312 Mixer was replaced by Alesis X2 console. Tascams were replaced by 3 Alesis ADATs (original Black Face)

Corner traps? IKmultimedia ARC? Looks like a garage sale- AKA my current 'studio'.

My first studio.  Apparently, I liked to sing when I was very young.

As I understand it, we're supposed to find a picture on the Interwebnitubes that we like and claim it as our own.  So, Duh, this is "mine."

 Unfortunately, this one is closer to Reality:

I found these photos on-line.

I still have these and they still work.
I would bounce transfer 4 tracks to a stereo VCR and then
back to 2 tracks of the Yamaha leaving me two tracks
to record and then bounce back to the VCR and then
back to the 4 track as completed.
That gave me 5 stereo parts IF I didn't record during a transfer
with making only 4 transfers which was much better than
bouncing tracks within the 4 track.
The less bouncing/transfers the better, no doubt.

I did some stuff for radio air-play that turned out very good.
I wasn't sure how it should be mixed for however they were boosting
so I supplied three mixes to them and my first mix was the one(s) used...lucky guess
on my part.

When I started using a PC I was still using this- with an updated drum machine
so I could input cassette, turntable, radio or my instruments. It was nice
having the selections and mixing options.
It has a very nice patch bay with selectable options.

I would "screw-up" the drum metering and volumes of different parts of the drum
patterns to get a more "humanized" drum part. Little changes were very effective for that.

The output from the PC routed back into the 4-track.
The output of the 4-track went to a Pioneer power amp (which I still have)
that went to Canon speakers ( an ESS subsidiary).

I could record anything from the inputs of the 4-track or output of the PC.

 There was a time when I wanted a porta one. I composed Handels Messiah on the sequencer in my Korg M-1. The term "compose" is loose here. I simply inputted the midi notes from the score. The whole thing sounded much better than I had thought it would. In those says memory in a synth was scarce. The M-1 had everything just not much of it.

 I had an old reel to reel two track and I junctioned a bunch of stuff together into it since I only had two tracks. I thought it was cool to make 3rd generation cassette copies...what a schmuck.

I still have my 4 track Fostek and did similar things like Spacey did (bouncing tracks). These should be collectors items by now no?

One of my first Studios was the basement at college.  My pal Chris, may have been the first, and I use this term loosely, Engineers I worked with.  We stacked tape decks on top of one another, linked them and attempted to sinc them up.  It was a challenge to hit the play/ record on the decks at the same time and line all the tracks up.  You could only do this minimal times before everything start to speed up and go out of key.

A year later we found a friend with a 4 track real to real.  It was a revelation to work with that.

Oh..and that Radio Shack mic still makes me laugh every time I see it.
