Just a reminder to anyone looking for something far superior (naff pun intended) than Session Drummer 3 , you have until the end of December to take advantage of the, just plain stoopid sale of BFD Eco for $29!!!
Almost a third of the price that EZdrummer is being sold for.
Get it here (http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=103)

I am mainly a Toontrack man but I picked this one up. Its a real no brainer at $29. - a great peice of kit.

Yeah, I picked it up last year when it was going for $99, which seemed like a great deal at the time, so this is a fantastic deal. I just hope FXpansion releases a 64 bit update. It's definitely good and a no brainer for $29 USD.

Get it here (http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=103) * * * * I love EZDrummer, but I can't use it on my laptop because their absolutely idiotic copy protection scheme won't work on a machine that uses a VPN for network access. Repeated requests to Toontrack for help have not produced a solution. I'm very tempted to buy one of the EZD EZX's now on sale, especially the latin percussion, but what's the point if I can't run it on my machine? I bought BFD ECO on sale, and it's very competitive with EZD in terms of sound quality and features. Good stuff. Regards, lightninrick

Hi Bobby

It's not called Eco for nothing :

Less velocity layers and a lower bit rate. I have both Eco and bfd 2 and to be honest, although the same kit does sound slightly different in both, it's not always a case of one sounding better than the other. I remember all the hooha about whether to record in 16bit or 24bit years ago and I'd say it's a fact (or as near as damn it) that almost no one can hear the difference.
Currently, BFD Eco is still not 64bit where as BFD 2 is.
I've had no problems running it in Sonar's bit-bridge but some others have.

Here's a comparison between Eco and BFD 2 for you. http://www.fxpansion.com/...p?page=103&tab=277#392

Cheers

I can hear the difference

It's much more than just a theoretical equation....

Well like I said "almost no one" and as the old saying goes,
"there's always one"

Have you taken the blind fold test to see whether or not you can give credence to such wild claims?

My hearing is fine thank you...

I wouldn't have said it if I couldn't back up my words with actions

BTW : I am hardly alone in being able to discern the audible difference between 16 and 24 bit samples...It's not rocket science...

Just a thought, but it's the same price at Audiomidi who are offering the $15 for re-registering for the newsletter. Assuming you can apply the discount here, BFD eco for $14 is kind of nuts.

There's a very close friend of mine who records in 16 bit in Logic & Pro Tools and states to me that he really can't hear a difference at the end of the day. I record in Sonar 24 bit because of the added headroom.....his track record includes being one of the engineers on Eric Clapton's Layla album
