Just received an email from JRR SHOP with the BFD3 upgrade Preorder available.

BFD2 to BFD3 upgrade $149. Use the code "newsletter15" and it drops to $126.65

No info on when it will be available. I want it but think I will wait for a little more info.

Do you know anything about the new version?
All I can find is 'BFD3's interface has been revamped to be more ergonomic with a new mixer and sound browser for the easiest BFD experience yet."

About the only thing I could find is on FXpansions' web site. It does mention 7 new kits but that is about the extent of it.

Hopefully we will be hearing more real soon.

Probably so, thanks for the heads up.

Yikes - the upgrade is more than I paid for BFD 2. I got ECO in a $ 29 no brainier and purchased the upgrade to BFD 2 for, I think, $89 which represents a fantastic deal.

I recall reading something about a cymbal swell feature in BFD3 which sounds interesting. I am also hoping for an improved interface, I am primarily a Toontrack user and I am finding the BFD 2 interface a bit cramped and less intuitive than Superior Drummer. From the blurb on JRR shop it seems that this has been addressed.

Yup, right there with ya Glyn. That seems a little pricey at this point. I did read that the pattern editor has been improved...

I really do enjoy the acoustic drum sounds though and the fact that you can import your own samples to use as a kit piece.

You can do swells in BFD Eco. The latest one anyway. Only the interface is less than awful so I only use it when I need swells.

Thanks for the heads-up rtucker55. Upgrade to BFD3 is a no-brainer for me. Purchased! Looking forward to the release. Hopefully it isn't far off.

I have Eco which to be honest I never use as the GUI is not to my liking - much prefer toontrack / Addictive / Slate.
Did anyone see the upgrade price from ECO to BDF3? I imagine it will be a lot of money so I shall not be bothering!

I'm not sure how you do cymbal swells in Eco and the manual says nothing about them but trust me, the cymbal swells in BFD3 are superb and nothing like BFD Eco. It's a completely different process and I don't know of any other product that can offer the same right now.

As for the upgrade price, bearing in mind the upgrade from BFD1 to BFD2 was $125 6 or 7 years ago to have only risen by $24 is pretty good value for money.

I'm not allowed to give any product details but as for the UI some will love it, some wont but if you've seen their other more recent products such as Tremor and Geist then I'd say it's more a move in that direction and is almost as big a change as was from BFD1 to BFD2.
Personally I loved the look of BFD2, the mixer was bigger and clearer than any I had seen at that time and it was just, sexier IMHO

Hopefully I haven't overstretched the terms of my NDA
