Upgrading for $127 at jrrshop sounds pretty good to me as you get 7 kits along with the upgrade. That's about 18 dollars a kit.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention the kits. They are stunning, perhaps not the variety of the BFD2 content but much better in detail.

There is a checkbox in one of the dropdown menus. Either check it or uncheck it and  it will cause the cymbals to act normal. Continuously vibrate after each hit rather than restart after each hit.

Are you quite sure ?
I have spent the last 10 minutes looking and don't see any drop down boxes.
I don't think even BFD2 has cymbal swell unless they are particular articulations that came with an expansion pack.

I'm positive. I used it. You have to use midi volume as well with it but it works great.

Looks like an interesting upgrade. I plan to look more into it. Thanks for the info.

Any idea of the release date?
I see there's an ad placed at Sweetwater listed as 'not in stock'.

No rush but am thinking for future backups.
Question for Beta testers:
Better doing a fresh install or upgrade over?
Also 55GB library, are these on top of BFD2 or the total of both including the upgrade?

Not a beta tester but, have you seen this picture of the interface. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BFD3/addreview
On windows you can hold Cntl and hit the plus key to make it much larger. Looks like there are 16 slots in the kit.

I guessing that BFD3 will be a separate install so that BFD2 and ECO will still coexist. The samples library will be the new Kits so you will probably want to keep your old kits also. I think there are 3 different installs, depending on how much detail you want in the samples, the largest is 55GB. I believe the small install is only 18GB and the medium around 34GB.

OK, I'll try and answer some questions without giving too much away.
No official release date yet and although it was hoped to be early September that date has obviously passed by but I think it could be by the end of the month or early October but again, no date has been given yet so this is just my feeling. No software is ever released bug free are there are known issues so I'm guessing they will be putting out some updates shortly after release.
They have a new compression format that is amazing, the original core library was 160GB but with the new compression it is now 54GB with no loss of quality whatsoever.

I've been running it along side BFD2 and Eco and whilst you can load all your old kits in BFD3 you wont be able to load the new content in BFD2 or Eco.
If you have BFD2 then you have all the Eco kits anyway so you wouldn't need to use any of your Eco stuff with BFD3. Also you won't be able to load any BFD Eco presets in BFD3 but you will be able to load all your BFD2 presets and kits.

As for the 16 slots I'm not quite sure what the maximum is but it's a lot more than 16 (BFD2 was 32) that's just that particular kit in the picture that has 16.
Hope that's helped.

Yes, I've seen the pics. I don't know for certain but I'm really only interested in using only BFD3 & not keeping older versions.
