OK, I'll try and answer some questions without giving too much away.
No official release date yet and although it was hoped to be early September that date has obviously passed by but I think it could be by the end of the month or early October but again, no date has been given yet so this is just my feeling. No software is ever released bug free are there are known issues so I'm guessing they will be putting out some updates shortly after release.
They have a new compression format that is amazing, the original core library was 160GB but with the new compression it is now 54GB with no loss of quality whatsoever.

I've been running it along side BFD2 and Eco and whilst you can load all your old kits in BFD3 you wont be able to load the new content in BFD2 or Eco.
If you have BFD2 then you have all the Eco kits anyway so you wouldn't need to use any of your Eco stuff with BFD3. Also you won't be able to load any BFD Eco presets in BFD3 but you will be able to load all your BFD2 presets and kits.

As for the 16 slots I'm not quite sure what the maximum is but it's a lot more than 16 (BFD2 was 32) that's just that particular kit in the picture that has 16.
Hope that's helped.

Thanks for the info Steve.
Does that mean if I choose a fresh install of BFD3 it includes the older BFD2 kits & samples?
(Not interested in using ECO in BFD3)

No, it is a completely new library recorded by a very well known and highly respected third party who's name I shan't mention.
If you have BFD2 then you can of course choose whether to add the BFD2 kits when you run the BFD3 scanner but not if you don't want to.

The download is 37.9 gig but unfortunately larger flash drives are either 32GB or 64GB with nothing in between so they had to go with the 64GB ones.
I think the flash drives are a great idea, much better than discs although perhaps easier to lose
But if you have space you could install the core data and then copy the 37.9GB installer to another drive, then you'll have a 64GB flash drive you can use.

I just bought bfd2 this summer. What percent, aprox. of new content would the BFD3 have? I also got contact this summer and have been using most of my time playing with that, I am just wondering how much of BFD3 is overlap of BFD2...hope this question makes sense

I don't believe that there is any overlap from the BFD2 samples. From what I understand, BFD3 has completely new samples consisting of seven new kits. About 55 GB of data, if memory serves. It will be able to load all the BFD2 kits as well.

Right no overlap. Great idea to get bfd2 now while you can and get 55 gb in drums in addition to the 140 ish gb(Pre lossless compression) in bfd 3.
