My appreciation for McLaughlins skill is hard to credit
for what he may be doing because he left such a big
impression on me many years ago.

We all probably have albums from the past that will
always be at the top of our lists and two from his works
"Shakti" blew me away.

And "Electric Guitarist" ...!....just unreal. What a line-up of musicians for
that.
My wife was 9 months pregnant with our first child in 1978 and went with
me to see him and Stanley.

So yeah...see and hearing him still get it on is a treat for me.

I distinctly remember the first time I heard McLaughlin - I bought "Best of the Mahavishnu Orchestra" blind on cassette tape based on reading about him in Guitar Player or something (I didn't know anyone who listened to that sort of thing back then).

I remember putting the cassette in hitting play and my jaw dropped shortly thereafter. Side one ended so I flipped it over and hit play and listened to side 2. Then I flipped it over and listened again, then flipped it over and...
