+1 to M1 and Wavestation. Korg soft synths are a must, and quite cheap.

I agree Rain.
The M1 gets used quite a bit here. Picked them up at a decent price during their last sale too.

As good as they are the M1 is very late 80's and the wave station is 90's, if you are looking for early 80's sounds in Korg Legacy Monopoly is excellent, I was less impressed with the Polysix but YMMV

MonoPoly was the first one I bought and I used and abused that one quite a lot. One of my favourite soft synths - I don't know how many songs I've re-done using no other synths.

There are some great preset banks for it in a variety of genres, even though I must say that, for me as a guitar player, MonoPoly is one of the easiest/most intuitive synths I've worked with. It's just so easy to create your won patches with that thing... That one and Steinberg's Retrologue, probably my favorite VA.

For whichever reason, Polysix seems to always let me come up w/ the bass sound I'm after w/ virtually no effort - I'll admit that it's 99% of what I use it for. But even if that was all I use it for, at such a sweet price, it was definitely worth it.
