My old man liked the dead. After playing some drums and bass, I learned ripple on guitar. I can no longer play it very well.

In 1970 I was lead singer and played a 12 string. I did the mandolin part on the 12 string. I still play it sometimes but the 12 string is LONG gone... it is a great song. La Da Da Daaaaa, Laa Daa-a Da Da Da...

First, a caveat:  I don't consider myself a musician.  I've always been more on the recording side of things.  That said, I mess around on keyboards from time to time.  I had an Elka Rhapsody 490 for many years.  When I first started working, I was asked to help out in a band that was to perform for the Holiday party in the cafeteria.  The song I was most involved with was Nights In White Satin. I learned the strings and a little synth part that I played on a borrowed Arp Axxe.

We set up everything.  Some amps were placed on a conveyor belt that normally took dirty dishes to be washed.  We were told that it wouldn't be used that day.  Well, someone turned it on during the song.  There was a pretty nasty train wreck for a moment while people scrambled to keep the amps from moving and pulling out cables. The bass player kept going and we recovered pretty quickly.  Someone finally found the switch and turned off the conveyor.

That was my first song and one of my very few public performances.  ...and a fun memory.

Heh, got a pretty interesting visual in my head of that dish conveyor!  LOL.

Gosh Jan, if you had been born to the current generation, all you'd need to do to call yourself a musician is be able to loop a few samples!

I've done a loop or two.  I haven't published them because they are more than a few samples.  One sont is a tribute to Steely Dan's "Josie".  The other is a Halloween themed piece with lots of lines from old movies.

When I was 9, I went to the conservatory of music and learned how to play in a guitar quartet. It was "Streets of Laredo" and I had the bass line on my Sears acoustic. Eventually had to wear a little monkey suit and perform it on stage.

That would have been the year I quit guitar and started playing with tube radios and shortwave.

Hi,

I don't think I know a single song yet!

I have to rectify that, but the songs I want to play, no one has any information on it, and I can not find notations for it.

Let's see ... I wanna learn the following: (on the BASS by the way!)

Guru Guru - The Girl from Hirschhorn (Dance of the Flames)
Guru Guru - Dagglebert Duck's 100th birthday (Dance of the Flames)
Amon Duul 2 - Apocaliptyc Bore (Vive La Trance)
Amon Duul 2 - All of the "Wolf City" album
Can - Bel Air (Future Days)
Can - Chain Reaction (and it's follow up) (Soon over Babaluma)
Hawkwind --- Steppenwolf and Reefer Madness (Astounding Sounds Amazing MUsic)
Hawkwind - all of the "Electric Tepee" album

Maybe even a little Pink Floyd, like "Echoes", but it has become so passe now! Maybe even a little Dream Theater, though I doubt I can even count the notes John plays!
