Beautiful shot Randy.

The blue is almost as brilliant as those hoodys you showed off a while back.

We're expecting photos of the even more elusive red herring heron next Randy!

Nice picture, thanks to the model :o). I wish we had more colourful birds up here in the north. Herons, but not blue ones, have been seen increasingly during the past 20 years, and they've started nesting in Finland, too. There's an estimated population (during summer) now of 700-1000 pairs, only about 100 in the 90's.
Owls are my favourite birds.

I'm always interested to see the differences in the bird species that side of the Atlantic compared to our natives, I don't even know what the thing you guys call a 'Robin' is, it is so different to what we call a 'Robin'.

But this is sure a Heron and I ain't never seen me one that's blue before, and that fella truly is blue.

Stunningly beautiful, you wouldn't want to see him around if you had a well-stocked fish pond...

So you're saying that the birds on your side of the Atlantic are different than ours?  What about the jars?  Are those different too?

Great pic Randy. Amazing colour, all the herons I've seen have been a dull grey. The sight of one being 'mugged' by 8 guinea fowl was quite memorable though.
