As some of you know older versions Adobe Audition require online activation for your program to work. Apparently Adobe has decided to abandon the activation servers and you can no longer re-activate your software. I believe this online activation business started with AA2.0. So to avoid the online activation problem you'd have to go back to AA 1.5. Or join up with the Creative Cloud service...I haven't been able to find a price on that. At the time they sold us their software they DID NOT tell us there would be a time limit to the activation service.

I sure hope Gibson doesn't muck it all up like Adobe did to Cool Edit.

I am sure glad I have my X3 bought and paid for.

I found the price for the Creative Cloud version of AA...only $19.99 a month for a one year term...not in your wildest dreams. I'll use AA 1.5 or X3 instead.

I talked with Durin from Adobe on Gearslutz forum and he says that upgrades to AA 6.0 and the one time $349 sale offer is still available on the Adobe website.

Even though Adobe has abandoned the activation server...AA3.0 is available for download which does not require an online activation.

In the event that I'm just talking to myself, I won't bother to provide links.

I bought and installed the Adobe Audition CS 6.0 upgrade. Because I have CS 5.5,  I was able to get the upgrade for $75 plus tax. For anybody else coming to the program new....you'd have to pay $ 349.99 or sign up with the Creative Cloud package.  I figured I'd better get it while I can as they may go strictly Creative Cloud in the future, or discontinue the upgrade option....I don't want a monthly bill for software.

In my silk screening business I was able to get on Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 just in time under very similar circumstances.

I say to Adobe,

Hey you,
I'll get off your cloud.

Well I played around with CS6 a little last night and it's a pretty nice program. Adobe has finally finished it...Cool Edit was a fairly simple program and Adobe has taken it to a new level. Without Adobe getting involved Cool Edit may have been no more years ago. Getting the full $349 dollar program for $75 bucks was a pretty good offer from Adobe. So the takeover turned out to be a good thing. Let's hope that Gibson will be good for Cakewalk as well.

Well I put CS6 thru the motions of making a simple demo guitar recording, adding some delay effects, transferring a wav file onto my desktop and then into Sonar X3. It played perfectly in X3. I was able to use the effects found in Sonar's Pro Channel.  Then I went back in to CS6  and burned a test cd...tried it out on my home stereo and in my truck's cd player.....all within just a few minutes...everything worked and sounded perfectly. Not one glitch. X3 and CS6 work very well together.
