Bajan Blue
downloaded, installed the demo and played with for a brief time - uninstalled.
I have to say I did not like this at all and I don't think it would have been worth all the time to learn to use it as intended  -I just don't see what use it would be to the way I work.
Anyone else tried this??
Nigel

Trying it out is still on my list to do, but I haven't gotten to it yet.

Curious what you tried to use it for?

I just tried it on a few demo tracks - after a brief time I thought to myself that:-
1) For general processing - compression / eq etc - what I have and use now works perfectly well so I could see no advantage
2) For creative sculpting of tracks, again what I have now is more than adequate and I could not see what advantage - HOWEVER a caveat - perhaps once you have spent a great deal of time learning this plug in, it could be good - who knows - I decided I did not have the time and saw no speedy and intimidate advantage over what I have and use - I'm sure someone will get this and love it - but it just didn't rock my boat!

Looks like it might be useful for mastering - not so sure about tracking or mixing.

Ever look at the plug-in offerings from Melda Productions?  They've got a multi-band version of most standard effects: vibrato, panning, delay, you-name-it.  With the multi-band host, you could roll your own multi-band anything.  That's where I'd see it being useful in a mix.  I'm not sure it's $129 useful, however (or even $129 - 25%, which is the deal at the CW store at the moment).  But it is intriguing and tempting at the discount price.

Finally got around to demoing this.

First a couple notes:
1. The 64bit VST only loads other 64bit VST's. No big surprise here.
2. It also won't load Sonar specific plugs that are keyed to only run in Sonar, like Vintage Channel.
3. Everything else I tried to load so far worked OK. Some people on the UAD forum have reported some compensation problems in some cases, and Blue Cat suggested stopping/starting playback, switching the plug on/off or stopping/restarting the audio engine should fix this, at least in most cases. I haven't tested for any compensation issues myself.

I tried various things and it worked well. For instance, I tried using a saturation plug and restricting it to a limited frequency range, a narrow band mid/side delay, using a color compressor only on the lows/low-mids, and taking a bass track and leaving the low end dry while running the rest through Amplitube using a slightly overdriven guitar amp that had anemic bass response followed by a chorus - worked beautifully.

I'm not really looking at it as a mastering plug, or to, say, turn any comp into a multiband comp (how often do you need a multiband comp anyway?). Turning a stereo plug into a mid/side one might be useful on occasion, but it would only work with certain plugs and some of them already do M/S on their own anyway.

But I'm sold on it for my intended uses, and CW just happened to put it even more on sale for me the other day.

You can already do that by creating a SONAR effects chain module with three components, the first and third being Channel Tools: 1) Stereo to MS and 3) MS to Stereo.  The middle component is whatever stereo effect you want to use.

Yeah, I've played with that in the past. Channel Tools is one of my all time favorite plugins!
