Tuning. The pegs on the brand new electric were very hard to turn.... so being the industrious do it yourselfer that I am.... I went and got my daddy's pliers..... and cranked on the high E peg....... crack....... the plastic busted off the peg....
I tried several fixes, none of which worked..... filed the peg so it had a flat side.... melted plastic and tried to form a new peg...... nope....
I had to use vise-grips to tune it....and usually ended up about 3 steps low and used a capo to play in the right keys.....
a few drops of oil rather than using pliers would have solved it..... dang
The guitar was $25 brand new at Woolworths.... and the tuning peg assembly was not a common design.... and the cost to repair it right was more than the guitar new..... so I played it "as is" for a year until I got a new professional Harmony electric..... woo hoo!!!
