If Cakewalk sells to the iPad/iPhone market and offers those users an upgrade path to Sonar I don't see that as necessarily a bad thing for either them or us, long term.

Agreed 100%. Actually, I should have said "as long as it's parallel development and that the main focus is on the big flagship tools..."

Well said Rain...

Don't know if Cakewalk has enough people to work over multiple platforms. But Roland has put in Ipad support for some of it's products- notably the Integra hardware sampler.

I do.

If that happens Cakewalk will probably cave in to newbie demand and offer VoIP to emerging musicians.

Luckily the Roland by KOSS headsets are ready to keep up with the changing times.

I think the companies that make the DAW software develop it in conjunction with the other stuff, and taking from Peter to Pay Paul would be shooting themselves in the posterior. I know some would argue that some of those companies have neglected DAW users and maybe they are right in some cases. It has taken one company that makes iStuff quite awhile to finally get 64 bit online, but that said, they ARE doing it so they are taking care of both crowds. Maybe not as fast as some wanted though.
