This is a site called glassdoor.com, where employees anonymously rate the companies they work for. A good reference for anybody considering taking a new job.

The page on Gibson is scary, and overwhelmingly negative. Now, I realize that employees griping about their jobs is pretty normal, but what's unusual about these rants is the consistency with which they specifically pin the blame on the company's owner.

There are 5 pages of complaints. Granted, dissatisfied people are more likely to post than those who are happy in their jobs. But for comparison, look up Cakewalk; not one entry.

Anybody want to start a pool on how long Craig A. will remain on staff at Gibson?

The Maillard Reaction
Not to seem trite, but there are actually 11 pages of primarily negative reviews.

I get the feeling that Craig A has finally found a place where his skills are appreciated.

I was already overwhelmed by a vivid impression of what it will be like to work at Cakewalk if Gibson chooses to actually buy it, and so I have chosen to not to make comments about the prospect.

best regards,
mike

According to LinkedIn, Cakewalk has 51-200 employees and Gibson has 1001-5000 employees, so to be fair one should factor that in as well.

Sounds very bad.
People getting paid differently to do the same job combined
with long hours and no incentives...and knowing there is somebody
in line to take your place if you quit because jobs are hard to find...
sounds about normal for the US factory workers- what's left of them that is.

Naysayers, pfft.

I have it on good authority from Gibsons' Magic chief that Henry is a long-time Sonar fan.

That's enough to assuage any doubts I could have ever had.

So there are a lot of pages of negative reviews for Gibson?  Well, what do you expect from a company that deals with a lot of dead wood?

Well at least they now have the fringe benefit of all the cake they can eat.

And yet when you watch their factory videos, there are ones that have been there for many a year.

It's a job not a freaky adventure.
