Just face it, because on one level or another, that is just the truth.  The best position to be in, "your own boss;" even then, work is work.
 
 

Except if you enjoy what you're doing, it doesn't feel like work.

Oh I'm not faulting ol Henry's pricing model from a business perspective...just from a "human being" perspective:-)

But note that it works both ways - if you want to pay 5x more for basically the same LP, you can. But you don't have to.
 
From a human being perspective it shows that perceived value is as malleable as the brains of humans who associate value with price alone. The expensive ones - and sometimes the pricing seems almost completely random if you look at the various models - are for human beings who care about status more than functionality (to go with their fancy designer watches and whatnot).

I think Henry is just pricing them high to jack up the value of the vintage Gibson gear.
 
Then he'll sell for his private collection for {DrEvilVoice} ONE MILLLLLIONNNN DOLLLLARRRRRRRRRRRS {/DrEvilVoice}

Yup, like I said above...we musicians are a gullible lot.
 

Dave, My brother in law's brother in law works at the Gibson Custom Shop. I've asked him how he likes it and he says he loves it.  He just finished work on Paul McCartney's Les Paul. I wish I could get a Les Paul.
 
P.S. right after that he did Ron Wood's Les Paul. Sounds like a good job to me

I don't know but can imagine that being a luthier working for Gibson
as a very good gig. Getting to do what one loves to do and not having
to deal with the business...and probably making a good income.
 
I can also imagine how easy it would be to get an attitude if one doesn't
or can't progress through the "line" to become a luthier for whatever reasons.
Stuck in one "stage" day after day...and maybe one doesn't realize that they
are just not cut-out to be a luthier and it's....just a job.

I work for "a VERY large government contractor" - the company has over 125k employees.  the plant where I work alone has 13k.
 
on that website that Bit showed us, employee satisfaction for the company I work for was 3.4 stars out of 5 and the approval rating of the CEO was 84%.
 
I think those numbers are quite high for people who think that ALL employees complain about their boss and the company they work for.  I think it's bad to generalize like that and I disagree with it.

Let's see, a "very large" government contractor in Texas...OK, so do you know anything about the billions Halliburton "lost"? If so, I'll keep quiet if you let me in on it.
