I doubt that download is with Adobe's blessing.

Pretty sure this is still a paid for product - it's normally around US$100.
Well that's what I thought - or have Adobe changed and are giving their customers a freebie!!

I asked around and it seems to be free. I don't steal things...(software, music, movies) so it's important to me that the download is legit. If you find out otherwise I will delete it. I entered the provided serial number, used my actual e-mail and registered it with Adobe.

wasn't suggesting anything of the sort, was just surprised - but if legit, maybe Adobe are giving us long suffering customers gift - I've owned Pagemaker and photoshop since.....goodness I can't even remember, late 80's I think/ early nineties - can't even begin to think how much I have spent over the years on upgrades etc, so anything free is very welcome - let us know how you get on with the registration - cheers Nigel

Guys,

Question this also. Downloaded the installer and ran with it just for fun.

Same sentiment, don't use illegal software so will uninstall if this is fake. No slap at Clint for letting us know what seemed to be legit.

Crapped out on two computers with error messages and noticed that the installation folders were filled with ??????????????? and ========== signatures. Something Adobe would probably not do.

As much as a bummer Audition 2 was, they owed us paying customers an upgrade to ver 3 for free. In the eyes of Almighty Buddha, there's moral and physical processes. Those of us ripped off by Audition 2 still have to unfortunately abide by the company rules, regardless what lowlife thieves they are. That way, our karma doesn't head south.

Bajan Blue and JohnKenn thanks for your feedback (and for knowing my intentions). It seems to work fine here, but I googled this and apparently Adobe did release the download with serial code for people with existing Adobe accounts. However it works for anyone and knowing this Adobe has left it out there. I have removed the links, but I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for finding it for themselves.

Ok, I just bought Pyro Audio Creator 1.5. This means it will go on sale or be free in a matter of weeks. No good deed will go unpunished.
I think it will work for me. I plan to do most of my editing and mastering in Sonar anyway...

This came up several months back and created quite a buzz on the internet: http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2013/01/07/adobe-audition-3-free/

Adobe gives away nothing unless it is a prelude to features they are using in paid products. They were just taking care of old business and it got leaked and misreported. The last thing they want to do is compete with themselves.  The differences between the new version and this one are not so extreme that it could compete with free.

You would think they would do something to remove it or at least change the serial numbers. One of the reasons I thought it was legit was by how easy it was to do. I even registered it with Adobe. It was even on a Legit software site.
Anyhoo, I don't and won't use illegal software so it had to go. On a positive note, Pyro Audio Creator is better than I thought it would be and I think it will suit my needs just fine.
