Roland bailed on Cakewalk ... now Gibson has bailed, and Cakewalk is for all intents, dead.

Any chance that Cakewalk may see a resurrection in the future? Cakewalk was among the first DAW's ... it's just hard to imagine their demise like this.

Yeah, I tried looking through the forums the last couple of days and couldn't find anything about this. Obviously everyone's talking about what's happened SINCE Nov 21st ... but I haven't seen any discussions about a light at the end of the tunnel going forward.

The tunnel is long, and dark.  No one has yet seen a glimmer of light.

There's a 59 page sticky at the top of the main Sonar forum in which this has been discussed ad infinitum.

Insert "Don't Panic" comment here for no reason whatsoever.

Are you referring to the one titled "Cakewalk Announcement"? Where they discuss what's happened since Nov 21st?

Noel Borthwick (Cakewalk CTO) has made a few be patient and watch this space type comments that seem to suggest that something might be be in the works, but because of legalities is unable to say what exactly and I've never known a lawyer to do anything quickly when they can drag it out for a year, so I wouldn't expect any news any time soon. Whether it's just wishful thinking on his part nobody here knows.
