I'm not much of a fan of the traditional tele bridge - tune-o-matic all the way as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure I like it on a strat but on a Tele, for me, it works. Love the colour/finish on this one too. I think I'd like it even better if they went a few steps further and stripped it to the essential... But it's already pretty good.

I wouldn't pay 6k for a guitar - never - not even if Jimmy Page himself was going to deliver it to my doorstep. But I do have plenty of friends who build Telecasters, some very talented ones at that. And if I were to have one custom made, I'd probably steal a few ideas from SD.

Personally I would have gone with black HB's (+ rings) instead of the zebra's. And at that price I could put together quite a few of my own.
 
But the transparent red on (one piece?) ash is indeed rather nice.

In fact, I keep thinking of the stuff I'd further customized - w/ a complete disregard for budget.
 
Set neck with rosewood fingerboard and Gibson-ish type of headstock.
Lose the pick guard - or make it much smaller.
Lose that metal plate under the knobs.
 
That's usually when I realize that what I'm really after is:
