If I used ST2 as much as you apparently do/have I'd be in the same place.
 
The UI turned me off so early on that although I too have a fairly extensive library of ST2 stuff (IIRC I purchased nearly every esoundz expansion pack I could get my hands on) I just never really got into ST2 as a goto tool.
 
Amplitube on the other hand has been my goto amp sim.

I'm in pretty much the same place - I don't have the full version, but I have a few very nice ST libraries that don't really get used because I despise the GUI and it's not like I'm wanting for other options.
 
 
But haven't IK always had free/cheap versions of ST that don't come with much content, but will play whatever libraries you own?

Given that they have Amplitube Free and T-RackS Custom Shop Free I'd be surprised if that's the direction they went. It seems to me that they've adopted the ibusiness model of trying to sell lots of additional content at as close to impulse buy prices as they can.

Impulse buy model - you know I think this works - I have happily purchased the latest stuff from Hideaway and Hollow Sun without really thinking too much about it - but there was a product from another manufacturer a few weeks back that was approaching $100 - I listened, I listened again, I really really wanted it, thought about it then never purchased it - if it had been say $25 or $35 I would probably have got it without too many second thoughts. And I'm sure if it was cheaper, they would sell far more - enough extra to make MORE money - in these testing times, people are thinking more about purchase decisions.

This is definitely true for me as well.  It's a lot easier to get me to pay $10 ten times than to pay $100 once.

You're all talking like this vapourware is solidifying. There is no ST3, just the party line, and I hope they pay Obi well to come here and deliver his stump speach. My hat's off to him.
