Hi:  I am thinking of getting either DFH or Metal Machine for EZDrummer.  I plan on buying the EZX Indie Kit and add either DFH or Metal Machine to make it 2-pack for $59.99.  Do any of you have a preference for Metal Machine over DFH or vice versa?

FYI--I already own Americana, Jazz, Nashville, Classic, Latin Percusion, and Vintage EZX libraries, and  SD New York Studios 1 and Roots Sticks, & Mallots and Brushes SDX libraries.    I do not play metal, but thought that having either DFH or Metal Machine would provide more cymbals and kits to swap in and out (using Superior Drummer X-Drum feature).  I tend to use Slate Platinum 4.0 for heavier drum parts, but since Audiodeluxe is running the two pack for $59.99, I thought I would grab Indie AND either Metal Machine or DFH by the end of the month.

My gut tells me to get the Metal Machine because it is newer (2011) more modern session and has a deeper, fuller sound to the drums and was recorded on an SSL desk.  DFH sounds kind of thin and was recorded years ago.  Metal Machine comes with a boatload of Zildian cymbals whereas DFH comes with Sabians.

Do any of you who own DFH and Metal Machine have a recommendation as to which of the two I should purchase?  For under $30 I thought I would add it to round out my EZX and SDX libraries.

Any thoughts, recommendations?

I prefer Metal Machine over DKFH, YMMV.

Metal Machine, it's much better IMHO and more versatile than DFH. Your observations on the sound are correct. And Indi Folk is an excellent pack.

Thanks.  There seems to be a consensus.  I will grab Indie and Metal Machine for a 2 pack.

Cecelius -  not sure if you have already purchased yet, but if not, did you look at the Rock Solid pack - I picked this up in one of the crazy sales for next to nothing, but I was pretty surprised how usable it is. I wouldn't say its better or worse than metal as such, just different. Does seem to "fit" well in the tracks I've used it on so far.
Anyway just a thought
Cheers

Yep, I also really like Rock solid. All 3 drumsets are good.

I have DFH (wishing I got M. Machine) and have found very little use for it other than the occasional death metal polkas.

They've sure gotten some mileage out of those old DFH samples. I still have DFH2, the one with the finicky Kompakt engine, and I'm reluctant to get rid of it because it still has some of my favorite kick samples. Dry and meaty.
