Sonar 8 on Windows 7 - Yay or Nay?
Anyone tried even if not officially supported?
Is W7 even available anymore?

As a download if possible?
Best place to buy online?
What were you doing on the morning of the 27th?
Did Han shot first?

I'm unarchiving projects, it seems that I thought my relationship with Cakewalk would go on forever -  I have quite a few .cwb... :s I guess I could buy X3, but since I'm only trying to retrieve some files...

Sonar 9, for Mac and PC - rolls off the tongue nicely, doesn't it... sigh.

Sonar 8 should work on Win7.  I know several folks who use 8.5 on win7.  I can't specifically recall anyone using 8, but it should work fine.

win7 should be available still.  it's still in full support from MS.

Krist, I can confirm that SONAR 8 (both 32 bit and 64 bit versions) works absolutely fine on my Windows 7 (64bit) PC.

Actually, just to add (and one reason I'm reticent about migrating to Windows 8) - all my older Cakewalk software runs flawlessly on Win 7 - even as far back as Guitar Tracks 2 which was released over 10 years ago, and Music Creator 24 (2004).

Thinking about it, on my previous 32bit Vista machine, I had all my older products installed and running, but a few of them (GTPro3 and earlier) would only play nice if I ran them in Compatibility Mode (for Win XP).

I don't need to run any of them in Compatibility Mode in Windows 7, which seems to be much more forgiving than Vista was on older software.

Resistance is futile.

I think I am going to ask bapu to unarchive my .cwbs so he can pay off his X3 upgrade. Unless Steve will do it cheaper.

Rain,
I am still using an older Q6600 PC.  It was running under XP.  When I upgraded to X2, Windows XP was no longer supported.  I had to also upgrade my OS.  I opted to move to Windows 8.  Long story short, I still can't get the hang of X2 and find myself getting frustrated every time I try to use it.  So, for now, my goto version of Sonar is 8.5.3 and it's working great under W8.

Regards,
Rich
