I've been shopping in various NYC Whole Foods for years, and I almost always pay with my card. Just been having a look at my bank statements over the last couple of months and it appears that nearly every time I shopped there, there have been two charges made on my card for different amounts. Sometimes from two different Whole Foods locations. Now I don't think I have ever made two separate purchases there in one day (in fact I know I haven't) and certainly not at two different locations. Wondering if my card is being scammed, or if there is some weird reason why a WF purchase shows up as two separate amounts (I'm clutching at straws here). I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I call them, but anyway if you shop at WF in New York then it's worth looking at your statement.

Every week. I'll ask my wife to verify, as everything goes through her account.

Single transaction every time. Hopefully they'll have a logical explanation, though I can't figure out why they'd do that.

No, I only shop at Half Foods (unless I happen to be in NY with your card  ).

I'm usually regular when I occasionally shop there.  LOL.  I haven't noticed any extra charges.  I'll certainly take a closer look.  Maybe start using cash.  Thanks for the heads-up.

Hmm I think something is definitely afoot. Of course the trouble is that I don't keep my grocery receipts (who does?), which would settle everything. This makes it tricky to find out which of the charges are genuine. I guess they would have to ascertain the exact times of each transaction and look at camera footage. Will provide updates.

This does look odd and I've never noticed it in my bill. However, if it's from two different locations, that shouldn't be too hard for them to track down (providing you know the date of transaction and the two locations).

Unless I pay cash, I save all my receipts (however my grocery receipts also contain what I paid on my card - in other words, I don't get two separate pieces of paper).  YMMV!

Well it's been explained (sort of). What I wasn't taking into account is that any card purchases made at the weekend won't get posted on my statement until Monday. So If I shop at Whole Foods on Monday as well, it'll appear that multiple charges have been made on that day. Going back through my statements from the first instance of this I could find (from the earliest statement I can access online), it appears that the vast majority of these multiple charges have been made on Mondays. And also discounting multiple charges on Tuesdays on weeks in which the Monday was a Federal holiday, I can only find 4 other instances of double charges, and these occurred on Tues, Wed and Fri. They all happened over a year ago and I'm not sure I have the inclination to investigate whether or not I made two trips to Whole Foods on those days. It's unlikely because my schedule only allows for one shopping trip a day, but I'm not confident about it enough to risk sitting in a Whole Foods security office seeing camera footage of myself making two trips (provided they even have footage going back that far).

Don't know why the weekend thing didn't occur to me - I guess I never really pay that much attention to dates when I skim over my checking account. It's funny but I go over my business account with a fine tooth comb every week, but my checking account not so much. I've even stopped paying attention to things like utility bills, phone, internet etc. This is what happens when bills come out of your account automatically, you get complacent....
