I'm going to keep this brief..

It seems to me that "most" here in this forum, usually the younger guys, but not exclusively,
have a problem with anyone expressing a "point of view" opposite to theirs, and simply
cannot remain objective, or be courteous about it....

We have to realize that "everyone" and "everything" is NOT the same...
that others are entitled to their opinions, every bit as much as you are entitled to yours..

I'm appalled and disheartened by the sincere lack of respect and derogatory comments
that keep popping up in the threads upstairs...and it really makes me want to leave this
forum...

Yesterday, Rain, who I deeply respect, was attacked for expressing the fact that he didn't
like the X Series interface...

Today someone posted info from other forums that talked negatively about X3,
but stated he was excited about X3, etc...and he got bashed for "sharing negative"
information....

The overall CHILDISHNESS of others in this forum is turning me AWAY from Sonar...
If members can't interact in a courteous manner, express thier views in a courteous way
and not be BERATED, then really I see no point in being here or using this software,
regardless of how GREAT it may be...

Professionalism is Professionalism....so be that...not a CHILD, and allow others to express their
opinions freely, just as YOU have the right to do...don't call them names or berate them...

That's why I stay down here in the CH most of the time.

You mustn't let these guys get to you Larry. Generally speaking, some people are just plain angry at life and it shows in their posts. It's easy to hide behind their "online alias's" and just say anything that crosses their head. I bet if they met you or anyone in person, they'd speak in a complete different tone. I don't expect too much "professionalism" or even courtesy from most posters upstairs and when dealing with them, treat them as a case by case.......some good, some bad, and then some ugly.

I enjoy the great personalities in the CH and using Sonar.........and I'm not going to let any "punk" (upstairs) get the best of me.
Upstairs, you have to treat a lot of it like water off a ducks back. You're a good guy Larry, don't let em get to ya.

I sure can't get my head around how others may conduct themselves in these forums having anything to do with the software I do or don't choose to use but I'm fine with us seeing it differently.

I do think if you continue to base your use of software on how others conduct themselves you will probably not be using software.

I try not to mesh....and spacey, I wouldn't stop using the software....I already own it...
I'd just stop coming in here...I know there's always bad eggs...that's a given...
But it sure would be nice if people could just be nice to each other...
THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD CHANGE...for the better...

BUT, that's why we are where we are...

No need stop coming in the CH Larry, this is a great community of professional & respectul peeps....(except for me), and you can always avoid going upstairs (which has worked out really well for me). Besides, if you leave, who's going to keep us updated on every single software deal out in plugin land???

I think the thread in question deserved at least a little ragging. It was entitled "Bad impressions of X3" and yet consisted of a few cut and paste quotes from people on other forums talking about Cakewalk and Gibson as companies - none of it related to anyone's actual bad impression of X3 the product.

So in my opinion it was spreading needless negativity simply by virtue of its title. If I see a post title like that then I'm immediately going to think "uh-oh, someone's had a bad experience with X3." Who wouldn't? So to open it up and find that it was nothing more than a couple of quotes about Roland, Gibson, and past versions of Sonar....well I'm not surprised it got a negative response.

Yeah don't let em' get to you. There are times I don't agree with guys I truly respect. I hope that doesn't make me old :) If we don't like something there are usually alternate choices.

I didn't read the post in question and I don't want to stir it up down here. In my view on the UI it is customizable in lots of different ways and the customizations can be saved as templates. I see that argument as almost a moot point, unless out of all the GUI options available a person can't find one that works , but then I have my own take on it and I didn't read the thread and I like the basic GUI pretty well. If someone else doesn't see it that way I'm ok with that.

If a person doesn't have a substantial reason for an opinion then it comes down to a personal preference only, which we all have. OK Mesh I'm getting too serious again. The CH will become unsilly.

I've been using Sonar products since 2006. I've had a Producer version for about 4 years. I can count the number of times I've posted in that forum upstairs on one finger!. If I can't figure something out myself, I'll consult the Garrigus book, or I'll PM a forum member I respect and get help that way.

Life is too short to put up with tools and trolls.
