The Maillard Reaction
Anybody know any software that is worth full price?

It seems hard to find these days.

I bought two Exponential Audio and a Valhalla reverb plugins at the asking price a few moments after I demo'd them. I'd do it again too.

I have some Voxengo stuff that I'm glad to have bought (They do have a small discount system, but that didn't factor into my choice or satisfaction)

Who else is making stuff that you will pay full price for?

All I ever seem to hear about is a bunch of stuff that only gets attention when it's on a deep discount.

What other software makes the grade?

best regards,
mike

Off the top of my head 2 would be Kush's Clariphonic & UBK-1, very handy plugins.
Clariphonic parallel eq, gets used sparsely & sparingly on certain tracks.

UBK-1 character comp is very cool , I use that quite a bit.
You might like to watch the vids, Greg's an interesting dev.

Most of the products that I either use or are on my wish-list I only bought/would buy at a discounted price.

A few, however, are so good and/or so reasonably priced as to fall into the no-brainer category. ValhallaRoom is one. Several low-cost Kontakt libraries qualify (e.g. Indiginus' Acoustic Guitar Collection, and all the Sampletekk pianos). Omnisphere hurt when I bought it, but Spectrasonics don't give no stinkin' discounts, so I bit the bullet - and would do it again because it's worth the price.

Well, there are a few like Valhalla, Tone Boosters, Audifex. Most that are already below $100 and have no online authorization or dongle/ card authorization and or a windows service constantly running.

Vendors like UAD, Waves, SSL, Plug-in Alliance, Softube, Powercore, IK....It simply has to be on sale or a used license here or the money stays in the wallet.

Same for soundsets and synths for the most part, so far everything I have is either buy one get one free or reduced. If I were to pay full price for something, it would be sounds and I must admit I'm getting a hankering for that Omnisphere all of a sudden after hearing some demos...

It's sort of a strange question because in many cases SW is priced to be discounted sooner or later anyway. I mean some of my UAD stuff might be worth the full price, but as anyone on the UAD platform knows, everything there gets discounted eventually, and it's the same with the SampleTekk libraries.

But off of the top of my head (of course I also bought some or all of these on discount and these aren't unreasonably priced to begin with):

U-He stuff and Fabfilter plugs for sure! The Spectrasonics stuff is also worth every penny IMHO (I have Trillian and Omnisphere). Could mention more but everything else seems to be discounted all the time. But these, I bought full price and couldn't do without

Logic.

Actually worth more than its full price, imho.

Valhalla was worth the price.
S-Gear too - though I may have gotten it on sale, I'm not sure.
Korg synths - definitely worth the price.

The rest I pretty much grabbed on sale.

Yeah, and hopefully that starts to drive down the prices of other DAWs.

As for other software, Valhalla plugin are also worth their full price or more. There are plenty of others that are worth full price, but I still prefer to be patient and wait for sales at e.g., AudioDeluxe, Plugin Discounts, KVR Market Place, etc.

I've never seen U-He stuff on sale but that might be because of the loyal fans.
